2002 - 2003 PBGVFC Executive Council Nominee Biography

SALLY MIESKE - Nova Scotia

Membership Affiliations
I have been involved in showing dogs( and have been a member of the CKC) for approx. twenty years and have always had dogs.

Biographical Summary
We started with showing Rough Collies and have finished a Multi BISS Collie as well as quite a few champions. We added two Bearded Collies from Sheiling Bearded Collies in Ontario and owned the first herding certified Beardie in the Maritimes (I believe still the only one). Then, "Hunter", a PBGV, Ch.Wakelyns Watchman, arrived after a l-o-n-g wait from Sandy and Anne MacKenzie (England) eleven years ago. "Harley", Amonvhar's Harlequin, our second PBGV arrived from Pat Corsiatto (Alberta) two years ago. Pat imported his dam, in whelp, from France via the Netherlands.

Our dogs have lived with us all their lives and we enjoy(ed) every moment with them. We usually go through basic obedience with the dogs but my main area of interest, other than having them as part of our family, is showing the little devils. I am a real estate agent and live in Westville, Nova Scotia.

Prior Experience-officer, chairperson, committee work
I have been show secretary for the Cobequid Dog Club (Truro, N.S.) and my husband has been superintendent as we are both involved with the dogs. I have been a member of the Cobequid Dog Club, Collie Club of Canada, The Bearded Collie Club of Canada, The PBGVCA, The PBGVFanciers of Canada and the BGV Club of England but have not been involved with any club in the last few years as we seemed to be spending more time organizing events for the dogs than actually spending time with them and this was not what we wanted.

I believe that the 3 areas of greatest concern of the PBGVFC should be....

  1. I am getting involved with this effort to try and keep the club alive because I feel we need a Canadian voice as well as input from our friends in other clubs and I would like to keep in touch with other Canadian pbgv owners.
  2. We need a web site where prospective PBGV owners can check out the traits of the dogs and hopefully get in touch with someone who can help them with this very important decision, for as we know, PBGV's are not an ideal dog for everyone (I do not breed PBGV's).
  3. I would like to see a strong rescue arm of the club.
  4. I would hope also, that we could bring our Standard more in line with the FCI standard somewhere down the road although this is not an area of immediate concern.

Sorry, I know this is more than three!

The dogs are first, last, and always, the most important thing to me.
