Forty days after his resurrection, Christ ascended into heaven to work as our great high priest. The high priest can have sympathy for us and our weaknesses, in that he experienced our trials. He, as our high priest, intercedes for us before God. Therefore Christadelphians believe that:

XIV.--That he is a priest over his own house only, and does not intercede for the world, or for professors who are abandoned to disobedience. That he makes intercession for his erring brethren, if they confess and forsake their sins.

In order to explain to the world exactly what was accomplished in his life, Christ sent the apostles a comforter, the Holy Spirit, that the work of salvation might continue after his death, resurrection and ascension.

JOH 15:26-27 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Therefore, Christadelphians believe:

XV.--That he sent forth apostles to proclaim salvation through him, as the only Name given under heaven whereby men may be saved.
