After its completion in July 1998, Jack published 50 copies in a limited edition run, which he mostly gave to family and friends.
While Jack takes credit for writing the book, he acknowledges the highly spiritual way in which it was written. "I would sit down and start writing, usually about ten at night," he says. "Before I knew it, it would be four o'clock in the morning. I would save it, print it and go to bed. When I woke up, I would read what I had written the night before, sometimes up to 20 pages. I would usually be astounded, unable to believe I had written what I was reading. It was as though I was in meditation when I wrote it. The whole thing was a very spiritual experience for me. Sometimes I feel I got more out of the book than I put into it."
