We see a No Mercy recap with the Randy Orton winning the
title. Then we see last week’s Raw that marks the return of Shawn Michaels.
Orton is backstage with William Regal. Orton is there to
complain about Michaels attack last week. Orton said that Regal, not the WWE
fans, should be able to choose who Orton faces at Cyber Sunday. Orton says it
should be Mr. Kennedy versus Jeff Hardy versus Shawn Michaels. Regal says he has
a decision and an announcement to make.
Monday Night Raw is being broadcast from the United
Kingdom on the USA Channel.
Ringside announcers: Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler
Ring announcer: Lillian Garcia
Backstage interviews: Todd Grisham
William Regal, General Manager of Raw, enters the arena with
mic in hand. Regal, who is from the UK, gets a nice welcome from the audience.
Regal announces that Orton will be facing one on one his three possible
opponents for Cyber Sunday tonight: Jeff
Hardy, Mr. Kennedy, and the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. Jeff Hardy and Shawn
Michaels appear to be the crowd favorites.
Jeff Hardy, weighing 225 lbs., from Cameron, NC
WWE Intercontinental Champion
Vs.
Randy Orton,, weighing 245 lbs., from St. Louis, MO
WWE Champion
Audience favorite: Jeff Hardy
My favorite: Jeff Hardy
Winner: Randy Orton after interference from Mr.
Kennedy and an RKO to Jeff Hardy.
No one believes that Orton meant that he wanted to be in
three separate matches tonight. The UK crowd, however, heartily approved of
Regal’s decision. It probably won’t happen, but I believe Jeff can beat
Orton hands down. Jeff did his usual awesome job of highflying maneuvers.
Commercial break during the match.
Back from commercial break.
Unfortunately, Mr. Kennedy appears at ringside to distract
Jeff. Word today was that Jeff Hardy suffered a minor neck injury at the end
of the match due to a botched RKO by Orton.
It is my understanding that Jeff was taken in for a check up and nothing
serious was found.
JR and Lawler remind everyone that it’s time to cast your
vote for matches at Cyber Sunday at www.wwe.com.
At the end of Raw, WWE’s website will have the complete Cyber Sunday match
line up.
Commercial break.
Back from commercial break, we see a promo for wweshop.com.
Santino Marella, weighing 227 lbs.
accompanied to the ring by Maria
Vs.
Val Venis, weighing 244 lbs., from Las Vegas, NV
Audience favorite: Val Venis
My favorite: Val Venis
Winner: Santino Marella by pinning Val Venis for the
three count – with the help from the ropes.
Marella grabs a mic prior to Venis’s introduction and
proceeds to get booed by the UK in general. Maria gets whistles and catcalls.
Marella disses London in favor of Italy. Then Marella disses The Condemned on
DVD. I’m tired of seeing Venis get beat up by Marella or anyone who Marella
sends into the ring to take his place. Even with a bad knee I know Venis can
whoop him.
The latest on the Diva search – Surf & Rescue.
We are backstage with Jonathan Coachman and Carlito who are
discussing Hornswoggle. Carlito wants to know how Hornswoggle managed to beat
Coach with his own cane. Coach thinks Vince McMahon wants him to get rid of
Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle sneaks up
and steals Coach’s apple and runs away with Coach in hot pursuit.
Commercial break.
Back from commercial break, Coach is still chasing
Hornswoggle down the stairs, into the cafeteria, and through a food fight before
Hornswoggle dives on Coach and crashes him into the table getting food all over
Coach’s clothes. Hornswoggle runs off and again Coach is running after him.
We get a replay of last week’s handicap match of Triple H
vs. Umaga and Orton.
Regal is in his office and is joined by McMahon. McMahon
wants to know how old the Queen really is. Regal says which one? Referring to
the photos on the wall, which are Queen Elizabeth, Elton John and George
Michael. McMahon also wants to know where Triple H is tonight. Regal says that
Triple H is in no shape to wrestle, especially against Umaga.
Commercial break.
Back from commercial break.
Mr. Kennedy, weighing 245 lbs., from Green Bay, WI
Vs.
Randy Orton, weighing 245 lbs., from St. Louis, MO
Audience favorite: Mr. Kennedy
My favorite: I don’t have one
Winner: Randy Orton due to interference by Jeff Hardy
coming into the right during the match to get to Kennedy.
Kennedy gets the mic down from the ceiling and wants to know
if everyone is going to vote for him for the match on Cyber Sunday.
I’m not fond of either one of these wrestlers but I’ll root for
Kennedy in this match up. Kennedy is the better technical wrestler. Orton may be
better at cheating. After watching the match, I take that back.
Kennedy is just as sneaky a wrestler as Orton. Orton goes after Jeff
after Jeff has taken out Kennedy. Jeff sends Orton over the top rope, which
causes Orton to hightail it up the entrance ramp.
Commercial break.
Back from commercial break.
Vince McMahon enters the arena. McMahon is there to hype
Cyber Sunday. The UK is big on giving McMahon the “WHAT?” McMahon tells
everyone that at Cyber Sunday it will be Triple H against Umaga and Umaga enters
the ring. McMahon then calls for a referee to come to the ring. McMahon says
that one of the choices for Cyber Sunday is a street fight.
Street Fight Match
Umaga
Vs.
Andy Simmons
Audience favorite: Andy Simmons
My favorite: Andy Simmons – and I don’t even know who
he is
Winner: Do you have to ask?
He was squashed like a bug by Umaga.
The UK gives Simmons a lot of applause but he doesn’t have
a chance against Umaga. Simmons is
there to give the audience a demonstration of what a street fight with Umaga
would be like. Poor guy. Makes it into the WWE ring only to get beat senseless.
After the match, the referees are attempting to help Simmons out of the ring and
to the back when McMahon stops them to tell everyone another stipulation
available for Cyber Sunday will be a first blood match
First Blood Match
Umaga
Vs.
Andy Simmons
Favorites haven’t changed from the previous match.
Winner: We
all know the answer – Umaga
McMahon tells everyone that the kid in the ring is hurt. No
joke? McMahon tells the refs to get Simmons out of the arena. Then McMahon says
that there is a third option for Cyber Sunday and that would be a steel cage
match. And lo and behold, there is a steel cage is above the ring.
Steel Cage Match
Umaga
Vs.
Andy Simmons
Favorites haven’t changed since the previous match.
Winner: Umaga again.
I get the impression the UK audience was not impressed
with this show of whatever it was supposed to be. McMahon needs to be careful.
Raw ratings have dropped and I know if I were not recapping the show for
this site, I would have turned off the television.
Three Orton matches and three Umaga matches are too much for any
wrestling fan to have to endure. The only people worse off than the home viewers
are the ones who had actually pay to see this Raw.
Commercial break.
Back from commercial break, Coach is chasing Hornswoggle down
some stairs. Hornswoggle find a tricycle and takes off. Coach finds a bike and
takes off after him. They pass Ron Simmons who says Damn! to the enjoyment of
the fans.
Jillian Hall, from Louisville, KY
Vs.
Candice Michelle, from Milwaukee, WI
Audience favorite: I’m not sure
My favorite: I’m not sure
Winner: Candice Michelle with a three count.
Jillian takes the mic from Lillian and tells the audience
that Lillian Garcia’s musical performance last week was absolutely pathetic
and that everyone hated it and everyone could tell that Lillian was
lip-synching. We see a recap of Lillian pushing her new CD last week. Excuse
me while I mute the television sound – Jillian is going to sing. One of the
shorter matches in the history of diva wrestling.
Beth Phoenix is standing by with her championship belt. She
predicts Candice Michelle will not win back the women’s title when she invokes
her rematch clause. And I’m still a Beth Phoenix fan.
Code Rhodes and Hardcore Holly are backstage.
Holly doesn’t understand why Cody would challenge him again tonight.
Cody says that he can beat Holly and that Cody will earn Holly’s respect.
Holly then slaps Cody across the face.
Commercial break.
Back from commercial break, we see a recap of last Friday
Night’s Smackdown and the Number One Contenders Match between Rey Mysterio and
Finlay. Undertaker will be the Number One Contender at Cyber Sunday since
Mysterio and Finlay were both disqualified. Fans can vote on who the official
will be: Steve Austin, JBL, and Mick Foley are the choices for officials.
Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, the current WWE Tag Team
Champions are at the announcer’s table during the match.
Brian Kendrick, weighing 175 lbs., from WA
accompanied to the ring by his tag team partner Paul
London
Vs.
Rory McCallister of the Highlanders,
Lillian announced his weight in stones and I missed it,
from Scotland
accompanied to the ring by his tag team partner, Robbie
McCallister of the Highlanders
Audience favorite: Brian Kendrick
My favorite: Brian Kendrick
Winner: Rory McCallister with a pin and a three count
After the match, The Highlanders come down off the apron to
the floor and stare down the current champions. Like them or not, Cade and
Murdoch were entertaining at the announcer’s table.
We see a recap of Orton getting the title belt at No Mercy and last week’s Raw with the return of Shawn Michaels.
NOTE TO WWE MANAGEMENT – WE’VE ALREADY SEEN THIS ONCE
TONIGHT! HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU GOING TO REPLAY THE SAME THING FROM LAST WEEK?
Commercial break.
Back from commercial break, Todd Grisham is backstage with
The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. Michaels is there to talk to Orton about what
Michaels is going to do with him at Cyber Sunday.
Hornswoggle is running down the hallways and runs into the
Diva’s locker room. Coach runs in after Hornswoggle and Hornswoggle runs out
with someone’s lingerie while Coach gets thrown out of the locker room with
things being thrown at him on his way out.
We again see the Save us 222, 2nd Coming or
whatever it is.
Hornswoggle runs into the arena and down the entrance ramp.
Hornswoggle goes under the ring and Coach goes around to the other side to pull
out a detonator. Coach appears prepared to blow up Hornswoggle. Coach attempts
to set off the detonator but nothing happens.
Coach tries it again but it doesn’t work. Coach follows the lines under
the ring and Hornswoggle comes out from under the ring and sees the detonator.
Hornswoggle enters the ring and heads for the detonator. Hornswoggle
pulls up the handle and the crowd encourages him to go ahead.
He does and there is an explosion. There is smoke coming out from under
the ring while Hornswoggle does his Irish jig in the ring. Hornswoggle goes back
up the entrance ramp as Coach with black powder all over him.
Commercial break.
Back from commercial break, we see a recap of the previous
matches between Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly.
Cody Rhodes, weighing 232 lbs., from Charlotte, NC
Vs.
Hardcore Holly, weighing 243 lbs., from Mobile, AL
Audience favorite: Cody Rhodes
My favorite: I like them both
Winner: Hardcore Holly with an Alabama slam, a pin and
a three count.
I am hoping that Cody manages to win this match if for no
other reason other than I would like to see Cody and Holly
wrestle other people now and then. JR and Lawler have a problem with
Cody’s name. They call him Cody
Rhodes one minute and Cody Runnells the next.
Commercial break.
Back from commercial break.
The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels, from San Antonio, TX
Vs.
Randy Orton, weighing 245 lbs., from St. Louis, MO
Audience favorite: Shawn Michaels
My favorite: Shawn Michaels
Winner: Shawn Michael after a disqualification caused
by Mr. Kennedy. Jeff Hardy also
entered the ring.
Michaels did manage to hit Orton with sweet chin music in
spite of interference from the outside.
We had to hope that Michaels would win this one to make up
for the rest of the show. I’m torn between whom I would like to see against
Orton in a championship match. I
think any of the three candidates could take him out.
