In a Fatal Four Way match, CM Punk defeated Tommy Dreamer, Chavo Guerrero and John Morrison in 6 minutes in order to face ECW Champion Kane in the main event.

The Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin defeated Matt Sydal in 4 minutes.

Matt Hardy, WWE’s United States Champion came over from Smackdown to defeat former General Manager Armando Estrada in 2 minutes.

Colin Delaney appeared to defeat Estrada in under 1 minute.

In the main event, The Big Red Machine Kane, ECW Champion, defeated CM Punk, Mr. MITB, in 11 minutes.

WWE’s ECW is broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel at Fresno, CA.

Ringside announcers: Mike Adamle & Tazz

Ring announcer: Tony Chimel

Tag Team Match

Kofi Kingston from Jamaica weighing 217 lbs.

&

Evan Bourne weighing 187 lbs.

Vs.

Mike Knox from Phoenix, AZ weighing 293 lbs.

&

The Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin from Orangeburg, SC weighing (I couldn’t hear the announcer)

Matt Sydal, previously of Ring of Honor, has changed his ring name to Evan Bourne. I know Bourne can wrestle but against these two opponents, I’m fairly certain he won’t get a chance to show it. As the match begins, I repeat, Bourne won’t be allowed to show any of his great ring moves in this match. Bourne goes for the cover against Benjamin but doesn’t even get a one count. Bourne tags in Kingston but Benjamin goes across the ring and tags in Knox. Kingston has some good moves of his own, including some hang time when he is off of the mat. As soon as Knox has Kingston down on the canvas, Benjamin wants a tag. Knox obliges and tags in Benjamin. Kingston fights back and now both men are down. Bourne is begging for a tag but Benjamin gets to Knox first and Kingston doesn’t make it to his corner. Kingston backs up Knox and tags in Bourne. Bourne delivers a nice hurricanrana and a great drop kick but Knox sends Bourne over the top rope to the floor and brings Kingston in over the top rope. Bourne goes around the ring and up to the top rope as Benjamin enters the ring to go after Kingston. Bourne comes off the top rope and delivers a kick that takes down Knox, goes for the cover and gets the win.  Time: 5 minutes.

Winner: Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston

There was a lot more action in this match than I thought there would be. Bourne does do a great job in the air and on the mat and he worked well with Kingston. Benjamin didn’t get a chance to do much in the way of wrestling but he hasn’t been doing much in the way of wrestling lately.  And Knox?  I don’t think I’ve ever seen him actually wrestle.

Armando Estrada is backstage with Tiffany. Estrada is looking for General Manager Theodore Long but Tiffany says Long has just stepped out. Estrada is bragging about his time as GM and he tries to get comfortable with Tiffany who appears to be Long’s assistance. Long appears and tells Estrada that tonight he has the opportunity to win an ECW contract in a match against Finlay and we go to commercial break.

Kelly Kelly

Vs.

Victoria

Victoria goes for the cover and gets a two count. Victoria again goes for a cover and again gets a two count. I agree that Victoria is a fabulous heel but she isn’t really showing what talent she has in the ring. Kelly pulled of a dropkick that worked. Kelly goes for a roll up but she can’t get the three count. Victoria sends Kelly out of the ring and pulls her up by the hair, but Victoria gets caught. She turns it around and sends Kelly face first to the floor outside the ring. The ref starts the count and then gets out of the ring and rings the bell. Time: 5 minutes.

Winner: Victoria via count out.

Kelly needs more ring time if she’s ever going to pull off being a wrestler. Her moves are clumsy and while I understand that WWE is more concerned about the diva aspect than the women’s wrestling aspect, Kelly doesn’t have enough ring experience to make it work.  We go to commercial break.

Finlay from Belfast, Northern Ireland weighing 233 lbs.

With Hornswoggle

Vs.

Armando Estrada from Havana Cuba weighing 238 lbs.

Even though Hornswoggle and Finlay tend to make their matches more like comedy skits, they are an entertaining pair to watch. Estrada has the build but I haven’t seen him wrestle and he begins this match with an attack from behind. The referee makes him break it up and then rings the bell. This looks like it will be more of a brawl than a wrestling match but Finlay handles either type of match quite well. Finlay delivers a drop goes for the cover and gets the three count.  Time: 1 minute.

Winner:  Finlay with Hornswoggle.

After the match, Long appears at the top of the ramp and tells Estrada he will have another match to prove himself right now – against Colin Delaney.

Armando Estrada

Vs.

Colin Delaney

Finlay whacks Estrada on the head before he exits the ring; Delaney enters the ring, goes for the cover and gets the win. Time: Under 1 minute.

Winner: Colin Delaney

Long gives Estrada another chance in a match against Hornswoggle.

Armando Estrada

Vs.

Hornswoggle

Hornswoggle comes off the top rope, delivers the tadpole splash and gets the three count. Time: Under 1 minute.

Winner:  Hornswoggle.

After the match, Finlay and Hornswoggle are dancing with Delaney but Finlay ends it by nailing Delaney with his favorite weapon and we go to commercial break.

The World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry is in the ring. Henry tells the fans that he is in the ring to call out The Big Show. Henry decides Show isn’t going to appear but Show does appear with a nice black eye and stitches from his match Singapore Cane Match at One Night Stand. Adamle tells the audience that Show broke his orbital bone during that match when he hit the steel steps. Henry congratulates Show on getting a title shot against Kane at Night of Champions. Henry says he wants to shake Show’s hand but Show doesn’t let go of Henry’s hand. Show says if Henry keeps campaigning for an ass whipping, he’s going to get one. Show lets go of Henry’s hand and Henry gets out of the ring. Show says he will beat Kane and win the ECW Championship at Night of Champions. As Show gets out of the ring, Kane appears and comes down the ramp. They meet on the ramp and stare each other down. Show gets out of the way and lets Kane walk to the ring.

Tag Team Championship Match

The Big Red Machine Kane, weighing 323 lbs.

WWE ECW Champion and we go to commercial break. Back to the ring,

&

CM Punk from Chicago, IL, weighing 222 lbs.

Mr. MITB

Challengers

Vs.

John Morrison from Los Angeles, CA weighing 219 lbs.

&

The Miz from Cleveland, OH, weighing 231 lbs.

WWE Tag Team Champions

Miz does not go toward the ring until his backup appears. Can we say chicken? Punk and Morrison work well against each other and Kane does a great job of beating his opponents to a pulp. I don’t know what Miz is good for except to run his mouth during the entire match. Morrison and Punk begin the match with the crowd chanting for Punk. Nice opening moves and counters until Morrison goes for Punk’s hair. Punk goes for a cover and gets a one count. Morrison delivers a boot to Punk’s head and tags in Miz. It doesn’t take Punk long to come back against Miz. Punk catapults Miz over the top rope, down to the floor and then vaults over the top rope to take Miz back down to the mat outside the ring and we go to commercial break. Back in the ring, Kane is in the ring with Miz. Punk is holding his ribs while he stands on the ring apron. Tazz tells the fans that when Punk dived on Miz outside the ring, Punk injured his ribs. Kane has Miz down on the mat but Miz starts throwing right fists at Kane’s head. Kane knocks Morrison off of the ring apron and delivers a boot to Miz, followed by a clothesline not once, but twice. Kane delivers a side slam and goes for the cover getting a two count. Kane goes up to the top turnbuckle and Morrison approaches, but then backs up. The distraction gives Miz time to get out of the way and Kane meets the mat. Miz tags in Morrison. Morrison applies a side headlock and tries to keep Kane on the mat. Morrison tags in Miz. Miz comes in swinging and then distracts the ref so that Morrison can choke Kane. Miz tags in Morrison, Morrison goes for the cover but only gets a one count. Morrison tags in Miz. Kane delivers a back body drop and tags in Punk as Miz tags in Morrison. Punk body slams Morrison to the mat. Punk delivers a power slam and goes for the cover but he can’t get a good enough cover to get a count. Punk goes for a backslide but Miz enters the ring and kicks Punk in the ribs. Miz sends Kane off of the ring apron, Punk delivers a kick that drops Miz but Morrison goes for the corkscrew neck breaker, goes for the cover and gets the three count.  Time: 8 minutes.

Winners: John Morrison & The Miz who retain the WWE Tag Team Titles
