WWE ECW

WWE ECW

May 13, 2008 – recap by Sassy

Last week on ECW –

In an Extreme Rules Match, Mike Knox defeated Tommy Dreamer in 7 minutes

Kofi Kingston defeated Matt Striker in 1 minute.

Colin Delaney defeated WWE’s ECW General Manager, Armando Estrada, in 2 minutes to win an ECW contract.

In tag team action, CM Punk & the Big Red Machine Kane defeated Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely in 9 minutes.

WWE’s ECW is broadcast on the Sci-Fi Channel from Grand Rapids, MI.

Ringside announcers: Mike Adamle & Tazz

Ring announcer: Tony Chimel

General Manager Armando Estrada and Colin Delaney are backstage where Delaney signs his contract. Estrada tells Delaney if he thinks he was a target before, he is really a target now. Tonight, in his first WWE ECW match, Delaney will face Mike Knox.

CM Punk from Chicago, IL weighing 225 lbs.

Mr. MITB

Vs.

The Miz from Cleveland, OH weighing 231 lbs.

One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions

The other half of the tag team champions, John Morrison, appears on the entrance ramp with Miz, but Miz waves Morrison to the back and enters the ring alone. Punk begins the match as a wrestling match but I don’t look for Miz to continue under real wrestling rules. Miz grabs the ropes and immediately takes a swing at Punk who takes Miz down and goes for a roll up. He can’t get the three count. Miz bulldozes his way through the match with no grace whatsoever – no wonder the fans don’t like him. Miz goes for a cover and gets a one count, twice. Miz goes for a cover again and again gets a one count. Miz drops Punk with a shoulder block but he can’t get a one count.  He does it again and again can’t get a one count. Punk delivers a power slam and goes for a cover but he only gets a one count. Punk delivers a high knee to Miz in the corner, a high leg lariat to the face, a clothesline, another high kick as Miz comes off the ropes and goes for the cover to get a two count. Miz goes for a bridge roll up but Punk powers out. Miz delivers a boot to the gut, comes off the ropes, Punk tries for the GTS, Miz counters, delivers a neck breaker, goes for the cover and gets the three count. Time: 4 minutes.

Winner: The Miz with a neck breaker

Adamle informs the audience that later tonight Morrison faces the Big Red Machine Kane and there is a six diva tag team match coming up.  Oh, joy.

Commercial break.

Diva Tag Team Match

Kelly Kelly, Cherry & Michelle McCool

Vs.

Layla, Victoria & Natalya

Kelly Kelly and TNA’s Velvet Sky must get their wrestling outfits at the same place. Natalya & McCool start off the match. I’d like to see Natalya and Victoria outside the WWE ring. Natalya tags in Victoria. McCool tags in Cherry but Natalya tags herself in with a blind tag and Cherry is in trouble. Natalya tags in Victoria who comes over the top rope with a leg drop and goes for the cover but only gets a two count. Victoria delivers a body slam but stops to showboat for the audience and gets caught when she goes for a standing somersault. Victoria stops Cherry from making a much needed tag Victoria gets distracted taking McCool and Kelly off the ring apron, Cherry goes for the roll up and gets the win. Time: 4 minutes

Winner: Cherry with a roll up, Michelle McCool & Kelly Kelly

I’m not sure why Kelly and Layla were in this match. At least Layla worked a little from outside the ring.

Lena Yada is backstage with Shelton Benjamin to talk about Kofi Kingston. Benjamin says that the next time he faces Kingston; he will beat Kingston and stop his winning streak. Kingston appears to slam Benjamin into a metal door.

Delaney will face Knox next as Adamle and Tazz go over Delaney’s history since he’s been in WWE’s ECW.

Commercial break.

Colin Delaney weighing 165 lbs.

Vs.

Mike Knox weighing 286 lbs.

Delaney gets a standing ovation from the audience as he enters the ring for the first time since signing his WWE contract. I’d say that Delaney is giving up a lot of weight (again, he’s faced Knox before). The bell rings and Delaney comes out with a double drop kick that doesn’t have the desired affect on Delaney. Knox has Delaney in the corner pounding on him until the referee makes him stop. Knox nails Delaney with the corkscrew neck breaker, goes for the cover and gets the three count. Time: 1 minute

Winner: Mike Knox with a neck breaker

After Knox clears the ring, Estrada appears to congratulate Delaney on his first ECW match and then to tell Delaney that he will now have to face the newest member of the ECW roster, Armando Estrada.  Estrada delivers a blow that keeps Delaney on the mat. Estrada says he has just signed himself to a very lucrative contract and tells the ref that this is Estrada’s first official match as an active member of the ECW roster and tells the ref to ring the bell.

Armando Estrada

Vs.

Colin Delaney

Delaney hasn’t even gotten back to his feet, but Estrada picks him up, delivers a slam and goes for the cover to get the win. Tim: 1 minute

Winner (if you want to call it that): Armando Estrada

Kane is backstage ready to face Morrison coming up next.

Commercial break.

John Morrison from Los Angeles, CA weighing 220 lbs.

One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions

Accompanied to the ring by Miz

Vs.

The Big Red Machine Kane weighing 323 lbs.

WWE ECW Champion

Did Morrison and Miz have to draw straws to pick their opponents tonight? Morrison immediately goes after Kane’s legs with kicks but Kane manages to take Morrison down to the mat. Kane delivers a short drop kick and goes for the cover, getting a two count. Kane picks Morrison up and appears to be stretching Morrison’s neck before dropping him face first onto the canvas. Kane makes the ref do a full count before releasing Morrison and again takes Morrison down for the cover, getting another two count. Kane continues to work on Morrison with a chin lock. Morrison gets back to his feet and again goes after Kane’s left leg. Kane delivers a kick to Morrison’s gut while Miz looks on worriedly from outside the ring. Morrison comes back and continues to work on the leg while Miz helps out from the outside behind the ref’s back. Punk appears to be a stop to Miz’s interference and Miz runs around the ring out of Punk’s way and we go to COMMERCIAL BREAK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MATCH! Back to the action, Kane and Morrison are back in the center of the ring. Adamle reminds the audience that this is a non-title match as Kane drops Morrison to the mat and goes for a cover. Kane gets a two count. Kane delivers a neck breaker and goes for the cover but only gets a two count. Morrison makes it back to his feet and again goes for the legs but Kane delivers a blow that drops Morrison to the mat. Morrison delivers a drop kick that backs Kane up into the corner. Morrison has Kane down and is working on the left knee again. Kane uses a fist to the forehead to make Morrison break the hold but as both men get to their feet, Morrison delivers a kick to the knee that drops Kane. Morrison goes for the cover and gets a two count. Morrison slides out of the ring to use the ring post to do further damage to Kane’s knee. Morrison makes the ref go the full count before releasing Kane’s knee on the ropes. Punk looks concerned as Kane is down on the mat. Kane fights back but Morrison again delivers a boot to the knee that drops Kane. Kane finally uses his other boot to the side of Morrison’s face to make him release his hold on Kane’s knee. Kane delivers a hard right and then a clothesline and then another clothesline but Morrison counters the side slam. Kane catches Morrison with a second side slam but can’t get the three count. Kane goes out to the top turnbuckle and comes off with a clothesline then waits for Morrison to get to his feet but Miz is up on the ring apron. Punk gets involved and the end of this match isn’t even worth talking about. Let’s just say that Morrison and Miz can’t wrestle, but they can win when they use the title belt. Time: 11 minutes

Winner: John Morrison and not by himself or without the use of a foreign object.

After the match, it’s a beat down by Miz and Morrison but I quit watching so I can’t tell you if that’s how it actually ended.
