XXIV IS 2 DAYS AWAY!
Match with Wrestlers Who Will Be in the 24 Man Battle Royal
before Wrestlemania. The winner of that Battle Royal match will face WWEís ECW
Champion, Chavo Guerrero at Wrestlemania XXIV. Chavo has joined Cole and Coach
The Big Red Machine Kane, weighing 323 lbs.
The Great Khali from India, weighing 430 lbs.
Chuck Palumbo from San Diego, CA, weighing 280 lbs.
Accompanied to the ring by his motorcycle
The Worldís Strongest Man, weighing 392 lbs.
Palumbo needs to hide in the corner and let the three big
guys battle it out. But he doesnít. Kane takes Henry down and then Palumbo
takes Kane down. Kane sends Palumbo over the top rope and down to the floor and
then gets caught by Khali. Khali and Henry double team Kane. Kane manages to
switch it around and now has the upper hand against his two opponents until
Henry delivers a blow that drops Kane. Again itís two on one as Khali and
Henry join forces against Kane. Henry appears to be calling the shots and he
picks up Kane and drops him over the top rope to the floor. Now itís Khali and
Henry in the ring. Henry receives a chop courtesy of Khali and the audience is
booing. Henry picks up Khali and picks him up and tosses him over the top rope.
Worldís Strongest Man Mark Henry
Iím not sure why Chuck Palumbo keeps getting himself thrown
into matches with wrestlers obviously so much larger than he went from a feud
with Jamie Noble to a feud with the Big Boys. This wasnít a bad match for what
it was but I prefer to see Kane and Palumbo work one on one matches with their
After the match Chavo charges into the ring and goes after
Henry. Chavo comes off the top rope. Henry catches him and slams him to the mat.
That was not a bright move on Chavoís part.
Winner of the altercation between Chavo and Henry Ė Mark
Theodore Long is backstage with Cherry, Eve and Michelle. He
says it is time to reveal who the last diva voted off is and the diva that has
been eliminated is Eve. That leaves Cherry and Michelle. Maryse and Victoria
show up to make fun of Eve. Teddy breaks up the argument and tells they will
settle in the ring with a wet and wild water fight.
Two out of the Seven Money in the Bank Ladder Match
CM Punk from Chicago, IL, weighing 222 lbs.
John Morrison from Los Angeles, CA, weighing 219 lbs.
One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions
These two wrestlers generally work well off each other in the
ring. The briefcase is hanging over the ring and the audience is chanting for CM
We have a little wrestling until Morrison decides elbows to
the side of the head are more effective against Punk. As both men go over the
top rope and out to the floor, WWE provides itís viewing audience with
BREAK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MATCH!
Back in the ring, Punk has Morrison on the mat and Morrison
takes the opportunity to attempt to use the ropes for a pin but he gets caught
by the ref. Punk is back in charge and Morrison is back out on the floor. Punk
says something to the ref and points up to the briefcase before going out of the
ring. Morrison catches Punk with a leg sweep as his feet are on the ring apron
and Punk goes down. Morrison rolls Punk back into the ring. Morrison sends Punk
shoulder and neck first into the corner post and then goes to work on Punkís
left arm and shoulder using the ring post as a weapon. Morrison continues the
attack until the ref makes him get back into the ring. Morrison goes for the
cover and gets a two count before Punk kicks out. Morrison continues to put
pressure on Punkís arm and shoulder as the audience cheers for CM Punk. Punk
gets back to his feet but Morrison goes up to springboard off the ropes. Punk
ducks and Morrison meets the mat. Punk delivers a nice back body drop and then
uses another move to sends Morrison back across to the opposite side of the ring
before sending him out to the floor. Punk flies out of the ring in a suicide
dive to take Morrison down to the floor again. Punk sends Morrison back into the
ring and goes for the cover but he only gets a two count. Morrison goes for a
bridge cover but Punk kicks out. Punk delivers a back breaker and goes for the
pin but canít get the three count. Morrison delivers a back breaker and goes
for the cover but only gets a two count. The audience seems to be vocally
enjoying this match up. Punk tries for the GTS, Morrison counters, and Punk
catapults Morrison into the top turnbuckle, delivers a bulldog and goes for the
cover but gets a two count before Morrison gets a shoulder off the mat. Punk
sets Morrison up on the top turnbuckle but Morrison is fighting back, Punk
delivers a hard chop to the chest and climbs back up, Punk sends Morrison to the
mat with a hurricanrana and both men are down on the canvas. Punk goes for the
pin and again only gets a two count before Morrison kicks out. Punk tries again
for the GTS, Morrison counters, Punk gets Morrison up again, this time hitting
the GTS and gets the three count.
Iím a Punk fan over Morrison but Morrison seems to be able
to keep up with Punk in the ring. Both of the wrestlers have some nice moves.
This match was worth watching. There
were wrestling moves, action at all times in and out of the ring and a great
build up to the Money in the Bank Ladder Match coming up at Wrestlemania.
Man Tag Team Match
One half of the WWE Tag Team Champions
At a combined weight of 763 lbs.
At a combined weight of 501 lbs.
Kofi Kingston from Jamaica, weighing 218 lbs.
I have a feeling a meet up between Trevor and Festus could be
like two freight trains colliding.
However, Lance is the one who ends up in the line of
Festusís fire when the bell rings. Trevor comes into the ring to help out his
partner but he gets taken down before Festus tags in Jesse. Jesse goes for the
cover but fails to get the three count. Jesse finds himself in the wrong corner
as Lance tags in Trevor. Jesse manages to get the upper hand and goes for cover
but only gets a two count. Jesse tags in Kofi and Kofi comes off the top
turnbuckle then goes for a cover. He canít get the three count. Kofi tags
Jesse back into the match. Miz does what Miz does best, he pushes Jesse off the
top turnbuckle and to the floor then gets himself tagged into the match, goes to
the floor, rolls Jesse back in the ring and goes for the cover. He gets a two
count. Miz tags in Lance with Jesse still stuck in the wrong corner. Lance tags
in Trevor and Trevor drops Cade onto Jesse before going for the cover. Jesse
kicks out. Jesse delivers a suplex to Trevor and tries to get a tag but Trevor
tags in Miz and Miz prevents a tag by Jesse. Miz goes for the cover and gets a
two count before Jesse powers out. Festus is pounding on the top turnbuckle and
gets the crowd involved. Jesse manages to deliver a jawbreaker to Miz, Trevor
enters the ring, Jesse send him to the mat with a back body drop and tries again
to get to his corner but Miz is back up and has Jesse by the leg. Trevor goes
outside the ring and pulls Festus off of the ring apron then delivers a shot to
Festus, taking him out of action temporarily. Jesse makes it to the corner and
tags in Kofi. Kofi goes for a roll up and gets a two count. Kofi does his little
dance and drops on Miz but Trevor and Lance hit the ring. Festus hits the ring
and takes out Lance and Trevor then goes out on the floor after Lance. Iíve
lost track of Jesse. Kofi is in the ring with Miz as Festus continues to beat
down Lance outside the ring. Kofi delivers a high kick, goes for the pin and
gets the win.
Jesse and Festus are an entertaining tag team pair and Kofi
has a different style and is very quick in the ring. This match was not a bad
match and I was surprised the live audience wasnít more involved in the
The Animal Batista from Washington, DC, weighing 290 lbs.
Snitsky from PA, weighing 307 lbs.
Iím not a big fan of Snitsky and have become less of a fan
Batista begins the match with a spear, a spine buster, and a
Batista bomb. Match over.
This has got to be one of the quickest matches I have seen on
Smackdown in some time. Batista went for the spear so quickly I thought he was
going to catch the referee in the crossfire.
After the match, Batista enters the ring with a chair, picks
up Snitsky and delivers another Batista bomb on top of the chair. I didnít see
any reason for this although Coach tells the audience that Batista is sending a
message to Umaga.
Wrestlemania Wet & Wild Tag Team Water Fight
Eve Torres, Special Guest Referee
Since this isnít a match, Iíll skip this one and just
provide the winners.
I think Cherry was the only participant, including the
referee, who didnít get wet.
M,V.P. enters the arena with mic in hand. He tells the
audience that after Wrestlemania everyone will be calling him Money in the Bank
because he is better than everyone in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
Tonight he says he will beat Chris Jericho and prove that he is just that much
better than Jericho.
in the Bank Ladder Match Preview
WWE United States Champion
Y2J Chris Jericho, weighing 222 lbs.
WWE Intercontinental Champion
Jericho got as many cheers as MVP got jeers. I like both of
these wrestlers so Iím not even going to try to hazard a guess as to the
MVP has greatly improved since appearing in the WWE ring and
he shows it as the match begins. Jericho takes control of the match in short
order and the viewing audience gets an up close shot of the green strip MVP has
across his nose. MVP gives up on wrestling and switches to boots and fists but
Jericho is no stranger to fighting instead of wrestling. MVP isnít doing well
and he rolls out of the ring to think it over. Jericho responds with a dropkick
to MVP outside the ring and then Jericho goes out of the ring to send MVPís
face into the announcerís table. Jericho is back in the ring and MVP rolls
back in. Jericho attempts to deliver a dropkick by spring boarding off the
ropes, but MVP gets a boot up and nails Jericho. MVP goes for the cover twice
but canít get the three count. Jericho charges at MVP in the corner, MVP gets
out of the way, Jericho hits the top turnbuckle, goes over the top rope and out
onto the floor and we go to
THE MIDDLE OF THE MATCH!
Back in the ring, MVP has Jericho down on the mat with the
audience chanting for Y2J. Jericho manages to deliver a hip toss and take down
MVP but MVP is back to his feet and takes Jericho out with a knee to the gut.
MVP goes for the cover but Jericho kicks out. MVP again tries for a pin but
Jericho manages to kick out. Jericho catches MVP in a roll up and gets a two
count. MVP is on his feet, Jericho is down, and MVP drops an elbow on
Jerichoís chest and goes for the pin. MVP only gets a two count and he argues
with the ref about the count. Jericho goes up to the top turnbuckle and comes
off with an elbow to the back of MVPís neck and goes for the cover. Jericho
gets a two count. Jericho drops MVP with a clothesline and goes for a cover but
he canít get the three count. Jericho comes off the ropes but MVP catches him
and slams him down to the mat. MVP goes for the cover and gets a two count.
Jericho gets MVP in a bridge cover but only gets a two count. Jericho goes for
the lionsault but MVP gets his knees up, gets to his feet and delivers a boot to
Jericho, goes for the cover and gets a two count. Jericho has MVP in a set up
for the walls of Jericho but MVP manages to kick out and delivers a kick to
Jerichoís head, goes for the cover but MVP canít get the three count.
Jericho gets MVP in the walls of Jericho but MVP manages to grab the bottom rope
and make Jericho break the hold. MVP goes out of the ring and comes back in with
both title belts as Jericho is down on the mat. MVP goes after Jericho with the
title belt, Jericho manages to take MVP down, title belt and all. The ref rings
the bell for a disqualification.
After taking out MVP, Jericho goes outside the ring and
brings out a ladder, sliding it into the ring. MVP gets the ladder to his head
as Jericho uses it as a battering ram. MVP and the ladder are down in the ring.
Not a bad match although I could be prejudiced because I do
think both of these wrestlers are talented.
When Jericho first returned to the ring, I thought he might have made a
mistake but he has proven me wrong every time I have seen him in a match.
The Burial of The Undertakerís Wrestlemania Winning
Streak presented by
The Rated R Superstar Edge
WWE World Heavyweight Champion
With Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder
Teddy Long and Vickie Guerrero are already in the ring, Vicky
in her wheelchair, as usual. Teddy introduces the General Manager of Smackdown,
Vickie Guerrero and then he introduces Edge who is dressed in a suit and tie, by
the way, to the chants of ďyou suckĒ from the live audience. I wonder why
the Edgeheads arenít wearing suits?
Edge delivers some sort of eulogy
Some of the wrestlers Undertaker has beaten at
Jimmy ďSuperflyĒ Snuka
Jake ďThe SnakeĒ Roberts
King Kong Bundy
The Game Triple H
Nature Boy Ric Flair
The Worldís Strongest Man Mark Henry
The Animal Batista
Edge claims that he is going to bury Undertakerís winning
streak this Sunday at Wrestlemania XXIV. The live audience disagrees with Edge.
Vicky takes the mic and says it is her duty to be unbiased as GM of Smackdown
and she says that she finds it extremely difficult because of her relationship
with Edge. I hope WWE provided the live audience with barf bags prior to this
segment. She says that they have a surprise for Edge, a preview of Wrestlemania
made just for Edge.
The audience gets to see the special preview. I wasnít all
that impressed with the preview but Edge likes it so much he hugs the Edgeheads.
Edge addresses the audience telling them that they have all have seen what will
happen this Sunday at Wrestlemania. Edge says it is now time to bury Undertaker
once and for all.
Edge then proceeds to gross out the audience by smooching on
Vicky and we are saved by the sound of Undertakerís bell. The Edgeheads bail
out of the ring to guard the entrance ramp and as the ring is still dark,
Undertaker emerges from the casket in the ring and goes after Edge, taking on
the Edgeheads when they try to help him. Undertaker has Edge by the throat,
choke slams him into the casket, Teddy bails out of the ring and out of harms
way as a screaming Vicky suddenly no longer needs her wheelchair and she jumps
out of the chair and rolls out of the ring, before running up the entrance ramp.
The Edgeheads are back in the ring and the Undertaker stops trashing the set up
in the ring long enough to deliver a tombstone pile driver to one of them as
Edge crawls out of the casket . Undertaker then delivers a tombstone pile driver
to the other Edgehead as Edge bails out of the ring and backs up the entrance
What, Vicky not willing to take another hit for Edge?
Could their disgusting romance be cooling off?
I know itís a build up for the big match at Wrestlemania
but it looks a little silly to be going through all of this casket stuff with
Vicky in her wheelchair and Undertaker in the casket.
