iMPACT

January 24, 2008 – Recap by Sassy

Previously on iMPACT, Father James Mitchell announced he is the father of Abyss also known as Chris Parks. Matt Morgan rescueed Ms. Brooks when Robert Roode and Ms. Petyon Banks attacked her. O.D.B. has challenged Awesome Kong to a match for the TNA Women’s Title. Shark Boy came out of his coma sounding an awful lot like Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Samoan Submission Machine Samoa Joe was disqualified in a match that he was removing from the ring during a three-way match with The Phenomenal AJ Styles and The Instant Classic Christian Cage. Christian won the match after Joe’s disqualification and will face Kurt Angle for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Against All Odds in February.

Kevin Nash is shown in the parking lot calling Joe back but Joe is saying he is “done”.

“You Will Never Forget Samoa Joe”

Crystal is in the locker room with Jim Cornette and Matt Morgan along with Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley of the Motor City Machinegunes, Black Machismo Jay Lethal, Johnny Devine, Tomko, and AJ Styles. Cornette is complaining that he is taking the heat for the disqualification of Joe last week even though it was the referee’s fault. Since Cornette is worried about his job, he is making sure this week the matches are great:

X Division Title Match

Black Machismo Jay Lethal vs. Johnny Devine in a street fight.

TNA World Tag Team Championship Match

The Phenomenal AJ Styles & Tomko vs. Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley of the Motor City Machineguns

Brothers Ray and Devon arrive to complain about Matt Morgan kicking them off the show a week or so ago. Ray says Team 3D should get a title shot so Cornette says that he will let them in on the match:

iMPACT is broadcast from Universal Studios, Orlando, FL on Spike TV.

Ringside announcers: Mike Tenay and Don West

Ring announcer: David Penzer

Ring valet: SoCal Val

Backstage interviews: Crystal Loutham and Jeremy Borash

Mike Tenay tells the audience that tonight Booker T returns to TNA. Tenay has an interview scheduled with Abyss regarding the revelation made by Father James Mitchell last week on iMPACT. The TNA year end awards for 2007 will be tonight.

Kevin Nash enters the ring with mic in hand. He is not in wrestling attire. Nash is talking to Cornette about the screw job on Samoa Joe last week during his match for a title shot. Nash calls out Cornette to make things right for Joe while Nash goes backstage and talks to Joe. Nash says that Cornette can ignore it all and then he can deal with Joe when he shows up in the arena. Matt Morgan enters the ring to talk to Nash. Matt tells Nash that nobody cares what Nash has to say. Matt continues to disrespect Nash in the ring. Matt tells Nash that he is the new giant in TNA and that he is better than Nash. Matt says that Nash can leave the ring peacefully or Matt will put Nash out of the ring permanently. Nash grabs Matt by the throat and shoves him back. Matt responds by attacking Nash from behind, however, Joe shows up for the save, sending Matt out of the ring and up the entrance ramp. Joe takes the mic and tells Cornette that Joe and Big Kev will do it the hard way.

JB is backstage with Styles and Kurt Angle. JB tells everyone it is the 2007 awards being named tonight and that Booker T will be in the iMPACT Zone tonight. Angle interrupts JB and tells him that the Angle Alliance has some business to take care of and he needs JB’s full attention. Tag Team Match

Cowboy James Storm from TN

&

Robert Roode of Wall Street, Manhattan, NY

Accompanied to the ring by Ms. Peyton Banks

Vs.

Showtime Eric Young Residing at an Undisclosed Location

&

The Guru Sonjay Dutt from Bombay, India

Referee: Earl Hebner

I could have sworn Banks was a blonde but this week she’s a brunette and she is wearing glasses. Tenay and West comment that she looks like more and more like Ms. Brooks every week. Ms. Banks has to watch her back – Ms. Brooks. Robert Roode has to watch his back – Booker T. Eric should have to watch his back but Storm is in the match with him. Eric may not be my favorite wrestler in TNA but he does seem to have the approval of the live audience. Roode takes Sonjay down with the payoff.

Winners

Cowboy James Storm & Robert Roode

After the match, Traci Brooks charges in after Peyton but Eric and Roode break it up.

Crystal is in the parking lot with Booker T who has just arrived. Crystal asks for an update on Sharmell but Booker keeps walking.

He says he is mad as hell and he does not plan on taking it anymore. He plans to start tonight with Johnny Devine.

Tenay reminds the audience that Lethal is the youngest wrestler on the TNA wrestler.

West and Tenay give the audience a rundown of the matches tonight.

Crystal is backstage with Black Reign. Kaz is still holding Misty hostage and Black Reign wants Misty back. Kaz shows up to take out Black Reign by slamming his head into a table and then he takes Black Reign’s wig and darkness falls weapon before leaving.

Recap of Shark Boy’s injuries and the doctor at bedside last week and his sudden revival.

Primetime Elix Skipper from Atlanta, GA

Vs.

Shark Boy from The Deep Blue Sea

Referee: Rudy Charles

Shark Boy enters the arena in a black vest and it appears he has suddenly become injury free. If Shark Boy calls for beer after the match, well, never mind…and Shark Boy wins with, as Tenay says, he “stunned” Skipper.

Winner

Shark Boy

Shark Boy takes the mic and says he is the new and improved Shark Boy. Shark Boy seems to have acquired an attitude. And he does call for CLAM JUICE!  Eeeuuuwww, now that’s gross.

Commercial break.

Back from commercial break, TNA Knockout of the year award. JB makes the announcement: Miss Gail Kim. Gail enters the ring to accept her award. Gail thanks everyone for the award but then delivers a rant against Awesome Kong who then appears at the top of the entrance ramp with her friend. Kong enters the ring and she and Gail go at it in the middle of the ring. Please note: JB and SoCal Val beat it out of the ring before Kong got to the ring. Kong prepares to deliver an Awesome bomb but O.D.B. comes in to make the save. O.D.B. hits Kong with several dropkicks before sending Kong out of the ring and onto the floor. Kong’s friend stops her from entering the ring again with O.D.B. demanding that she come back into the ring.

Crystal is backstage with Angle, AJ and Tomko. Angle is trying to talk Tomko into becoming a member of the Angle Alliance. Tomko tells Angle thanks but no thanks. When Tomko refuses Angle’s offer of Mrs. Angle, Kurt tells Tomko this is Karen Angle not some broad he picked up at the strip club and Tomko not only takes offense to Angle’s remark, he lays into Angle.

Commercial break.

Back from commercial break, and Tomko is brining Angle into the ring area. Tomko removes his shirt and rolls Angle into the ring. Security enters the ring to break up the battle but they seem to have a problem hanging onto Tomko. Angle manages to bail out of the ring and grab a mic in order to tell Tomko that next week it will be Angle versus Tomko and then makes another derogatory remark about Tomko’s wife which causes Tomko to break free from security and come out of the ring after Angle.

Crystal is backstage with Johnny Devine and Team 3D. Devine says that he is doing the talking tonight and he tells Lethal that tonight he will take him out in their street fight tonight. Devine leaves and area and Brother Ray tells Motor City Machineguns that Team 3D will win the TNA Tag Team belts tonight and then they will defend those titles at Against All Odds in a street fight.

TNA X Division Title Match

Street Fight

Johnny Devine from Calgary, Canada

Vs.

Black Machismo Jay Lethal from Elizabeth, NJ

Referee: Slick Johnson

Tenay and West explain that even though Devine has the title belt, Lethal is the X Division Champion, which makes Devine the Challenger.

Commercial break in the middle of the match.

That’s one!

Devine does a great job of bleeding about the forehead before Team 3D comes down to the ring in order to interfere in the match but they are slowed down by Lethal. Devine catches his breath in the ring during the distraction. Brother Devon pulls the ref out of the ring allowing Brother Ray to go after Lethal. Devine gets the cover and

Winner

Johnny Devine

New TNA X Division Champion

Samoa Joe comes through the crowd and into the ring but Team 3D get out of the ring. Joe doesn’t skip a beat and goes after Devine instead, taking him down with the rear naked choke. Devine may have won the match but he certainly doesn’t look like winner right now.

Mike Tenay is with Abyss for the sit down interview. Abyss says he hides behind his mask because he is ashamed that James Mitchell is his biological father. Abyss has asked for a career threatening match, a barbed wire massacre, against Father James Mitchell and Judas Mesias. (NOTE: South Carolina refused to allow TNA to hold a barbed wire match during the Against All Odds pay per view.  The match has been taped in Orlando, FL and will be shown during the pay per view.)

Commercial break.

Back from commercial break, JB announces the Most Memorable Moment of 2007. In the ring with him is Kendall Gill. JB does a promo of Pros Versus Joes in order to push Kurt Angle who is on the show. The Most Memorable Moment of 2007 is announced by Gill: Booker T comes to TNA. Booker T enters the ring to accept his award. Booker first addresses Sharmell at home and then the fans. JB wants to know when Booker T will be back in the ring but Booker says that it is the last thing on his mind. Sharmell is first on his mind. Robert Roode shows up on the monitor to tell Booker that Sharmell’s injury is Booker’s fault. Replay of Roode taking out Sharmell at the last pay per view.

Crystal is backstage with BG James and Bullet Bob Armstrong for the match they have coming up at Against All Odds. BG says that with all due respect he has a wife and kids at home and he covers up Crystal’s very revealing shirt with a large t-shirt.
