A law enforcement news conference held on Tuesday afternoon concerning the double homicide/ suicide involving the Benoit family revealed the following: Fayette, Georgia County District Attorney Scott Ballard said law enforcement officials believe Chris Benoit killed his wife Nancy on Friday night via asphyxiation, and did the same to his son Daniel on Saturday morning before hanging himself on Saturday night. Nancy Sullivan Benoit's wrists and feet were bound with tape and there were traces of blood under her head. She was found in an upstairs living room area. Daniel Benoit was found dead in his own bed in his upstairs bedroom. A Bible was placed next to the two bodies of Nancy and Daniel. Benoit hung himself with a cord in his basement weight room. Anabolic steroids and prescription medication was found in great quantity throughout the house. There was no suicide note found. The TMZ.Com website is reporting that Chris Benoit made threats of domestic violence against his wife that were alleged when she filed for divorce in 2003. (CREDIT - THE WRESTLING OBSERVER) - Nancy Benoit filed for divorce in May, 2003, saying that her three-year marriage to Chris Benoit was irrevocably broken and alleging cruel treatment. She dropped the complaint in August of the same year, as well as a request for a restraining order in which she charged that Benoit had threatened her and had broken furniture in their home. In the divorce filing, she said that Benoit made more than $500,000 per year as a professional wrestler and asked for permanent custody of Daniel and child support. In response, Benoit sought joint custody. The Fayette County Tax Assessors Office lists the value of the house, situated on more than three acres, at nearly $900,000.
