- The Aug 16 edition of WWF Smackdown scored an overnight rating of 5.1.
- The New York Times reports that Vince Mc Mahon wrote a letter to UPN requesting complete withdrawal from the Manhunt series. Originally, Manhunt was to be a developmental project between the network and the WWF. Mc Mahon felt that with the wrestling promotion, Tough Enough and the XFL, he had enough going without adding Manhunt.
- Sun Night Heat, taped Thu night in Salt Lake City, for the UK : Raven/ J Credible d Kaientai... Saturn d Hurricane Helms... Hugh Morrus d Spike Dudley. The US will have a live Heat show, acting as lead-in to WWF Summerslam.
- Former ECW owner Tod Gordon has signed on with John Collins' MECW. Gordon was responsible for the success of the Philly ppv taping.
- Local note : Carolina Wrestling Federation stops in Burlington, NC tonight and the World Wrestling Associaton is in Winston-Salem.
- Southern Ch Wrestling (NC) presents Cruel Intentions Thu night Aug 30 in Raleigh. The show will be taped for cable TV.
- The WWFE reduced Vince Mc Mahon's salary bonus by 30% in fiscal 2001.
- Still no deal between Directv & the WWF going into Summerslam. The parties are negotiating percentage of profits. The WWF maintains that it should retain greater than 40%.
