The History of ACTS

The Acting Company of Theatre and Stage was founded in the fall of 1987 at South Rowan High School in China Grove, North Carolina. Dedicated to the Performing Arts, ACTS grew from one classroom of 30 people to a membership of around 300 when it moved to East Forsyth High School in the fall of 1999. Previous ACTS productions, in order: Fame, Phantom of the Opera, Grease, Dracula, The Wizard of Oz, You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, 12 Angry Men, Beauty and the Beast, Steel Magnolias, and Changes. In addition, ACTS has presented three talent competitions, Broadway...Lookout, in 1997, 1998 and 1999. The debut show at East Forsyth, 12 Angry Men, was presented in November, 1999. The Spring Musical, Fame, was presented in April, 2000. Steel Magnolias was presented in November, 2000. With the band, chorus and dance departments assisting, the final ACTS production at East Forsyth was Grease, presented in April, 2001.
