"You're doing an awesome job.." The words still ring in my ears. The comments came from Suzette Pritchard, the North Rowan support contact for the Exceptional Children's program. I have never worked harder, yet been happier in what I am doing, than I am now. Working with Exceptional Students has given me more patience. Teaching again in Rowan County after being away for two years, I have a better appreciation for the people I work with, as well as those in my life.
It's hard for me to remember the frustration I felt the last year I was at South Rowan, some three years ago. The work is long and difficult. The classes this summer are mandatory. Yet, through it all, there is a love. Two weeks ago, in the Sunday Peanuts comic strip, Lucy leaned over the piano and asked Schroeder,
"Do you believe that you can be in love and not know it?" Schroeder avoided the question. If I were to answer Lucy, I would have to say yes, not only can you be in love and not know it, you can run from love and not know it, too. Thank you for being here with me at
