One of the greatest compliments I have ever been paid came from my former principal at South Rowan, Dr. Alan King. Although he never told me so, he made the comment in a meting with guidance officials and administrators that he was certain of one thing. The meeting was centered on the needs of at-risk children, the ones who, all too often, fall between the cracks because they don't conform to be preps, jocks, etc. The comment was that he knew that he had one teacher who could reach any student on campus; one teacher who could talk to the students withot talking down to them, that could relate to them as people. That teacher as me. Now that I've been at East for a year, I'm comng to be known as that kind of teacher again. And that's fine with me.
