Tony Oliva hit 2 doubles and had 4 RBI and Jose Contreras carried a no-hitter
into the 6th inning as the Cuba Cubans defeated the Mexico Mexicans by the
score of 8 to 0 at Petco Park.

Oliva had a good day at the plate.  He doubled bringing in two baserunners in
the 1st inning, delivered a base-hit in the 3rd inning and doubled scoring
two baserunners in the 5th inning.  Cuba rapped out 14 hits for the
afternoon.  

Contreras(1-0) was credited with the shutout.  The right-handed Contreras had
his no-hit bid broken up by Erubiel Durazo who singled with two outs in the
6th inning.  The loss was charged to Ismael Valdez(0-1).  He allowed Cuba 5
runs in 2 and 1/3 innings of work.
