History of Saruko Poodles

I purchased my first poodle, Four Star's Saruko, as a pet in 1967.  As she was the first dog I had ever owned, I had no training skills and decided to attend an obedience class. At those classes, I was fortunate to meet a poodle breeder (Frances Clark) who became my first mentor in Poodles.

Saru was a Tedwin's Top Billing granddaughter.   I continued on with this line for a few generations until 1974, when I bought a puppy from Chuck Arnold.  This puppy ultimately became Am Can Mex Ch Charob's Charade, TP.  Radi, as he was known, was sired by Ch Tambodan's Special Edition and out of Am Can Mex Ch Charob's Chassis.   Radi was a beautiful moving dog who finished his American title in 2 weeks with 4 majors including going BOW and BOS at the PCA Regional at San Raphael.  He was also went on to be a multiple group winner in Canada.

I acquired my next dog, Doral's Flair For Magic, from Dorothy Kenck.  Radi and Flair produced my TP male, Am Can Ch My Saruko's Free Spirit (Archie) and Flair bred to Am Can Ch Wavir Showboat produced my beautiful bitch Am Can Ch Saruko's Shaleen.

Archie and Shaleen are the beginning of my present line.  Shaleen only produced a total of 5 puppies in 4 litters.  One of these became Am Can Ch Saruko's Afternoon Delight(Dee Dee) who was co-owned with Dana Plonkey.  This was the beginning of a long partnership and friendship with Dana which still exists to this day.
