It seems that every year our fly in gets bigger and better, and this year will be no exception. We will be starting off on Saturday with a poker run, stay tuned for the prize list as we accumulate it, followed by our world class Pigroast BBQ on Saturday evening.
Pigroast will be $14.00 per person and only 150 tickets will be sold. To purchase your ticket, contact Chris McLean at

The Days Inn, Harbourview Motel, is offering fly in participants a special rate of $66.00 cdn per night. If you want to take advantage of this offer, mention the Nanaimo Flying Club. They can be reached at (250)754-8171 or Fax (250)754-8557 or toll free 1-877-281-4858 This rate is good between June 1 and June 5, 2000.

Camping on field is encouraged, floor space in the club is available on a first come, first served basis, and some of our members would be willing to loan out a cot or a couch if you let us know soon enough. There are several motels within 5 miles if that is more to your liking. If you require more information about motels or local attractions e-mail me at johnmargaret@home.com There is an 18 hole golf course next to the airport, car rentals on site and bungie jumping close by.

On Sunday we will be opening the club grounds to the public so that we can show off our aircraft, and our flying skills. Pancake breakfast starts at 08:30 - cost $4.00 (Warbird pilots and passengers are free).

Once again, the good folks at Parallel Aviation will be offering airplane rides to the public for $25.oo. As an aircraft owner, believe me, that is a good deal.

The EAA chapter 679 will be offering Young Eagle flights to boys and girls under the age of 16 at no charge again this year. PLease register at the EAA booth near the front gate to reserve your spot.

Cicilia Jacques, a student with the Diena Parusssini School of Highland Dance will be offering face painting in an effort to raise funds to compete in Scotland in 2001.
