Memorial University of Newfoundland Poetry Society

Moonlight's river-writing
In the sand upon the shore
She walked alone in bare feet
She walked alone in search of innocence
And stumbled over Blake's experience
Looking for the way
Searching amongst the grains of sand
Searching for secrets
The tiger prowled river; the lamb munched moonlight
While the stars sang sweetly
Their voices flowing into eternity
As endless as waves upon the sand
Pawprints pace the limits of imagination
As dove's wings flap on high
Beating, pulsing rhythms in the sky
Dissolving, fading to silences

Much like the society, this site is still under construction. Here's a quick run down on the society:
The Memorial Poetry Society exists to foster interest in poetry-related activities on campus. It seeks to fulfil these aims by:
- setting up regular poetry workshops in which members may read their work and receive constructive criticism from other participants
- organizing a public reading by an established poet
- organizing a showing of a film about a major poet, to be advertised widely on campus and to be open to all
- working towards the establishing of a regular poetry column (for poems and reviews of books of poems) in The Muse
- working towards the creation of a poetry program on CHMR, the student's radio station
Future projects may include the creation of poetry broadsheets to be circulated on campus and the acquisition of various poetry resources for MUN
