Floating Hand Halloween Punch (& 4 more)

1 envelope unsweetened grape soft drink mix
1 envelope unsweetened orange soft drink mix
    2 cups white sugar
    3 quarts cold water
    1 liter ginger ale

    Directions

1 To make a frozen hand, wash a disposable glove, fill with water, seal with a rubber band and freeze until hard.
2 Stir together grape soft drink mix, orange soft drink mix, sugar and water until solids are dissolved. Combine with chilled ginger ale just before serving. Dip the frozen hand briefly in warm water, then peel off the glove. Float the prepared hand in the punch bowl for a ghastly effect.

NOTE: The floating hand has been around a while, but it is easy to make as
long as you follow a few precautions. It is necessary to make sure that you use
not only non-powdered gloves, but non-latex gloves as well. Many people have
latex allergies and this could be potentially dangerous. You can purchase
non-powdered non-latex gloves at your local pharmacy, and many even will sell
you just one pair of gloves. Pour either water or your favorite juice into a
cleaned glove. Close the end with a rubber band and place on a baking sheet.
Place in the freezer and freeze until ready to use. Float the hand in the punch.
Adding dark food coloring (green, purple, or black works great) to the
juice before freezing makes for an even spookier accent.

Wiggle-Worm Ice: Fill bottoms of desired Halloween molds with water. Place chewy fruit worms in molds. Freeze till firm. Add enough water to fill molds. Freeze again till firm. When frozen, remove Wiggle-Worm Ice from molds; float ice molds in punch.

    Orange Fizz Punch

2/3 cup TANG Brand Orange Flavor Drink Mix
1 quart (4 cups) cold water
    2 cups cold ginger ale
    1 pint blackberry sherbet

    Directions
1 Place drink mix in punch bowl or large plastic or glass pitcher. Add water; stir until drink mix is dissolved. Refrigerate several hours or until chilled.
2 Stir in ginger ale when ready to serve. Place 1 small scoop of sherbet in each punch cup. Pour drink mix over sherbet.

NOTE: There are a few really gross fruits and vegetables to float in punches,
as well as some attractive ones. Peeled grapes or cherry tomatoes make
for perfect eyeballs. Peeled concord grapes makes for perfect fish or frog eggs
in a punch. Whole cranberries, orange slices, lime slices, or lemon slices
also make great garnishes for punches.

How to Make a Smoking Witch's Cauldron
Prepare your punch recipe and put in your punch bowl or cauldron.
Put gloves on to protect yourself from the dry ice.
Wrap chunks of dry ice in cheesecloth and secure. A big tea ball can also be used, but will have to be replaced more often.
    Carefully place in punch.
    Replace as necessary.

    CAUTION:
Dry ice is crystalized CO2, and very cold. It will burn your skin,
or inner linings if ingested.  Make sure kids won't eat or touch this!
Always wear gloves when handling dry ice.
Make sure dry ice is wrapped securely when placing in the container.
A black plastic trick or treat witch's cauldron makes a perfect container.

    Ghoul-Ade

1 Envelope Kool-Aid grape flavor unsweetened mix
1 Envelope Kool-Aid orange flavor unsweetened mix
    2 Cups sugar
    3 Quarts cold water
1 Bottle (qt.) ginger ale -- chilled

Mix Kool Aid's together with sugar, in large pitcher.
Add water and mix. Just before serving, add ginger ale.

TIP: Add grapes cut in half and take out the seeds and apples cut into small chunks. Float the fruit in the brew just before serving; by magic, the grapes and apples will look just like eyes and teeth. Make a swizzle broomstick from a straw and black paper cut into a fringe.
