The Wedding

On the 30th July, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt tied the knot on the top of a Malibu cliff at sunset. The ceremony was designed to be intimate by Hollywood standards, with a mere 500 staff tending to 200 guests. The lavish sunset ceremony took place at an estate owned by television executive Marcy Carsey. Guests seen going into the Malibu estate included Cameron Diaz, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Madonna and her boyfriend Guy Richie – who directed Pitt’s last movie – and of course the cast of Friends.

Brad Pitt has broken the news of his weekend wedding to his ex-girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow in an intimate phone conversation.. Sources say the conversation lasted a mere 10 minutes, during which Paltrow gave her full blessing to the nuptials but refused a personal invitation to join the celebrations. Family friend Marjorie Appleby has told sources, "Brad and Gwyneth used to be very close and it's only right he should break the news to her personally. Gwyneth very graciously gave her blessing, but obviously out of respect for Jennifer she will not be attending the wedding."

Aniston wore a floor-length white satin silk gown designed by Lawrence Steele. Her ivory-colored, suede high-heel sandals were designed by shoemaker Manolo Blahnik for Steele. Jennifer was also thought to wear a $32,000 necklace from Brad. The bridesmaids wore pale green silk chiffon slip dresses with pale tafetta mules.
Pitt wore a black tuxedo designed by Hedi Slimane. His attendants wore black tuxedos designed by Prada.
The couple also got "brother-and-sister" blonde highlights in their hair at a Beverly Hills salon. Staff were required to sign a document making them liable for a penalty up to $105,000 if they talked about the event. They also exchanged rings with each others name on them. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston had a smashing time at their lavish wedding - thanks to Greek-style plate-breaking celebrations. Plates were shattered on the floor as the happy Hollywood stars led their 200 guests on a wild dance to Greek music on Saturday. Jennifer came up with the idea as a tribute to her Greek ancestors. Jennifer walked down the aisle under a beautiful white archway made of bamboo - with her father John Aniston, before exchanging vows with Brad.

Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston wrote their own bizarre wedding vows - including her promise to always make his "favorite banana milkshake." According to People magazine the vows also included Pitt's pledge to "split the difference on the thermostat. " Other snippets from the carefully-guarded ceremony at Malibu include that Aniston ordered "tons of candles" made of brown sugar and imported from Thailand to illuminate the reception tent.

The event cost $1 million, according to widespread media reports, including $100,000 for security. They were also looking out for Athena Rolando, Pitt's self-styled "No.1 Fan" She broke into his home last year and was found asleep in his bed, wearing his clothes. A warrent had been out for her arrest as she had failed to turn up for her therapy.

Protected from view by a screen of 40ft potted palm trees security guards brandishing machine guns kept unwanted guests away from the wedding of the two Hollywood stars. Among those barred from the event included Jennifer's mother Nancy - whom she hasn't spoke to for years. Hollywood stars packed out the wedding where it was held in a marquee overlooking Malibu beach One security guard says, "It would be better for someone not to get in here because we cannot guarantee their safety if they gatecrash." An insider says, "It's a true Hollywood wedding. Security men with machine guns have been told to keep out the mother in law." A police helicopter hovering 1000 feet above the public beach warned sightseers to move on and more than 200 private helicopter charter firms have been sent a letter from Pitt's lawyers pointing out that it would be illegal for them to fly around the house.

One guest at the wedding said "It was simply a magical wedding. That's the only way I can describe it - it was really beautiful. Jennifer looked radiant. And Brad looked so proud I thought he was going to cry."
