Silver's short strong back ,uphill build, beautiful clean neck allows him to be extremely light and athletic.
He has a naturally stretched topline which allows him to easily move in a more balanced higher frame.
Good conformation not only looks best but stands up best. He has short cannons ,nice round hooves
and has been blessed with the bone to stay sound.
CURLS...
Silver stands as the only stallion in this region capable of producing curly, hypoallergenic offspring.
So far, all the allergy sufferers to visit, have had little or no reaction to him or our curly mares.
We hope that Silver is homozygous for the curl gene and can consistently produce curlies , even from straight mares. It will take many to prove he is, only one to prove he's not. In an effort to expedite the process, we are offering a reduced stud fee to approved straight* mares for a limited number of bookings.
CHARACTER...
Silver has the typical friendly curly horse personality. He loves to be in the company of people and the center of attention. He will leave food in a second to greet visitors.
Silver is extremely focussed at work. He is very sensitive, intelligent and a joy to train. The fact that he enjoys a quiet life with the mares and has never left a mark on them, is a testament to his reasonable and cooperative nature.
He is a true "character" and loves to entertain himself and/or anyone who cares watch his antics. He loves to play with his ball or just about anything he can pick up and carry around.
COLOUR...
Sterling Silver was aptly named. He was born a bay pinto, but showed signs of turning grey. Over time, his minimal pinto markings and perfectly matched stockings will be hard to distinguish as hiscoat continues to lighten.
His great grand sire Spartacus and many of his progeny are grey or "blue" pintos.
Silver carries only one gene for grey and one for pinto, so any of his off spring have a 50% change of being either grey and or pinto.
The other colour possibilities he offers depends on the colour of the mare. For example, when crossed with one of our palomino mares the most likely colour probabilities of the resulting foal are:
25% chestnut
25% palomino
18.5% bay
18.5% buckskin
6.25% black
6.25% smoky black
All of the above could also be born with pinto markings and/or turn grey. Predicting colour is tricky as there can be hidden genes that often provide surprises.
CLASS...
Silver's distinctively different look not only makes him stand out from other breeds, but within the curly breed itself. He is a fine example of a warmblood stallion and an exceptional example of a curly. His classic conformation, gorgeous long spiraled mane and tail, curly coat and great colour should prove him to be one of the most sought after curly stallions.
Due to the high degree of inquiries and interest in Silver, we've decide to offer shipped semen this season, thus making this rare individual available to even more mares.
