Bushido Kai Tournament Info.

PageCompetitors at the Bushido Kai Kata Classic

Bushido Kai Judo Club is very active in local tournaments. Our participants usually do very well, and our club takes pride in the large number of contestants we bring to each competition. Many of our instructors and students are Junior, Senior, State, National and International Champions.

On the weekend of June 1st, we sent a team to the 1st Canadian Open Masters Judo Championships:

Senseis Heiko and Jeff took gold in Nage no Kata, Ju no Kata, Goshin Jitsu no Kata and Katame no Kata; Phil Ross and Justin Higgins took silver in Katame no Kata; Justin Higgins took gold in Shiai in his division; Josh Smith and Penny Salzman took second in their divisions.

Congratulations to all the Bushido Kai members that participated in the AMCAN International Judo Championship on Memorial Day weekend.

John Farrar Jr. took first in his division; Josh Smith and Melissa Eschbach took second in their divisions. Sensei Reiner and KC Jordon both took 4th in their divisions. Team members that also competed: Collin Higgins, Jillian, Penny Salzman, Justin Higgins, Chris Arena, and Kevin Oz.

Kata: First Place: Senseis Heiko and Jeff, Nage no Kata and Katame no Kata Second Place: Senseis Heiko and Jeff, Ju no Kata and Goshin Jitsu. Shiai: Sensei Reiner 3rd, Sensei Jeff 5th. Super job Guys

Congratulations to the members of Bushido Kai that participated in the shiai at Brantford Ontario Cananda in March.

1st Place: Justin Higgins and Andy Macnamara. 2nd Place: Laura Higgins. Colin Higgins took 4th in his weight class, and Penny Salzman went uncontested. Great job people.

Katame-no-kata sr advanced: 2nd Chris Arena and John Farrar sr., 3rd Phil Ross and Justin Higgins. goshin jitsu: 3rd John Farrar sr and Chris Arena. itsutsu-no-kata jr novice: 1st Stephany Rommelmann and John Farrar jr., 2nd Caralita Candeloro and Laura Higgins, 3rd Bobby Ross and Colin Higgins. itsutsu-no-kata sr advanced: 2nd John Farrar sr and Chris Arena. nage-no-kata jr novice: Stephany Rommelmann and John Farrar jr. jr grand champions: Stephany Rommelmann and John Farrar jr.

Bushidokai United States Judo Championship Results:

Reiner Eschbach fought well in masters 40-44 -73kg but did not place. Jeff Giunta bronze masters 35-39 -66kg. Irv-dog 4th masters 35-39 -73kg. Heiko Rommelmann masters 30-34 -66kg silver. Chris Arena suffered an injury in the senior -90kg division. Rommelmann/Giunta also won the over all for kata with 5th in katame-no-kata, bronze in ju-no-kata, silver in both nage-no-kata and goshin-jitsu. Great Showing for our competitors.

On 15Nov02 through 17Nov02 Bushido Kai traveled to Findlay Ohio for the Flag City Open where we fielded 17 competitors, 16 of which took home trophies or medals, some taking multiple awards.

In shiai, Juniors: Cory Giunta, Silver: Colin Higgins, Silver: Laura Higgins, Gold, and John ( Buzz ) Farrar, Gold. Seniors: Justin Higgins, Bronze in 100+kg: Heiko Rommelmann, Gold in -60kg: James Martinez, Gold in -100kg: Casey Jordan, 5th. Masters: Reiner Eschbach, Bronze: Jeff Giunta, Gold. In Kata: Jeff Giunta and Heiko Rommelmann, 1st in Nage-No-Kata and Kime-No-Kata, 3rd in Ju-No-Kata. John ( Bam ) Farrar and Chris Arena, 2nd in Katame-No-Kata, and 2nd in Itsutsu-No-Kata. John ( Buzz ) Ferrar and Stephany Rommelmann, 1st in Itsutsu-No-Kata. Bobby Ross and Laura Higgins, 2nd in Itsutsu-No-Kata.
