'Fly' Stays Perched at #1 on SoundScan 200 Chart for Second Consecutive Week NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Dixie Chicks continue their reign at the No. 1 spot on SoundScan's Top 200 Albums Chart for the second week in a row as their new album ``Fly'' sold more units than any musical act today -- including projects by pop powerhouses Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.

With this feat, Dixie Chicks have become the only country act in the history of the SoundScan chart to see their sophomore album debut at No. 1 on the Top 200 and remain there for a second week.

In addition, of all sophomore albums released in all musical genres since 1997, ``Fly'' realized the lowest drop in sales in their second week.

"The Dixie Chicks continue to defy the preconceived ideas of what country music is today,'' said Sony Music Nashville President Allen Butler. ``Their music appeals to people from all ages and all walks of life and I think their amazing sales success clearly reflects that. I didn't think it was possible to surpass 'Wide Open Spaces' but I think Natalie, Emily and Martie have with 'Fly.'''

To kick off their amazing sales coup, Dixie Chicks have completed appearances on ``Late Show With David Letterman'' and a staggering performance on Sheryl Crow's show in Central Park where the trio shared a stage with musical icons Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards and Stevie Nicks. They have also made their second appearance on ``Rosie O'Donnell Show'' and are set to be the opening act on the upcoming Country Music Association Awards for which they are nominated three awards including the prestigious Entertainer of the Year category.

With ``Fly'' in record stores a scant two weeks, music critics have already started lining up in their unanimous praise of the Texas Trio's new disc.

``The Dixie Chicks are country radio's gift to the world...'' raved Rolling Stone magazine in a full-page album review. ``...they make the dirty South a little dirtier with every song.''
