The fateful trip to Jusenkyo is a point in the story where so many could of's or should of's occur. I think, an many could agree that this is also one of the more significant pivot point in the story of Ranma and Co. My proof to this is that the springs of Jusenkyo have a large bearing on the future of our favorite characters. But as I read all the stories that start here, very few of them decide to do something different with the curse. Even fewer still have Ranma getting something different from the girl curse. So let me tell you a story of how a simple change is made affects the entire story of Ranma and Co.
