Chapter 3

Wildfire- Chapter 3

Everything was soon in order, and Juliet informed them that she believed that she already had a record label lined up, but for everything to work out, multiple things had to be worked out. For one thing, the group needed a demo, which they had, but Juliet didn't believe that the demo showed their 'full potential,' so they made a new one, reluctantly. They worked their butts off revamping the song and practicing. Next, she made them fill out little surveys explaining why they wanted to be in the business, their backgrounds, things they saw as a bit pointless, but they filled them in anyway. They also had new professionally done head shots. By the end of the week, the girls were beat from all of the running around they had done. They wondered what Juliet had up her sleeve for them next.

"I don't know how to tell you guys this, but the company wants everyone to relocate," Juliet said the next day.

"What?!?!" the girls exclaimed in unison. "Where?" Erin asked, shocked.

"Why?" Kristin said immediately after.

"When, who, how?" Heidi asked, then laughed. Julia shook her head atHeidi.

"LA," Juliet told them. "That's were the record company is located, and the owner wants you girls to be close by. We'll have an apartment set up for you girls in 3 days, and you will be on a plane out to LA the next day. I'm really sorry to spring this on you guys, but the order only came in today from up above."

"You talk with God?" Ali asked in fake awe, wide-eyed. Juliet laughed.

"You know what I mean. Does 3 days give you girls enough time?"

"If I start now," Heidi exclaimed, ready to get the hell out of Canada.

"Wow, okay," Juliet said. "I thought there'd be a little resistance at least." Heidi shook her head.

"Not from me. I've been here 20 years, that's long enough for me."

"Anybody else have a problem with this?" Juliet asked. The girls looked at each other, but said nothing. "I think it'll be fun," Kristin commented.

"We'll get used to it," Ali agreed, speaking for both her and D. D nodded in agreement with Ali's statement. "Julia?"

"Done school, stupid job I quit 2 weeks ago, no longer living with parents, can we go now?" The girls all laughed at her joking.

"You can if you want to live on the streets of LA for 3 days," Juliet offered. Julia pretended to think about it and shook her head. "Well, I have a business meeting with your potential boss, and have to catch a jet to LA, so I'll see you girls tomorrow, okay?" They nodded in response. "You girls get packed, okay? Good night."

"Good night, Juliet," the girls chorused, then burst into a fit of giggles. Juliet shook her head at them, and walked out of the apartment.

"Okay, here's the plan," Kristin announced. "We help Heidi pack, cause we all know how much shit she has, that should take the first two days, then everybody else can pack on the last day." Kristin looked over at Heidi and smiled. Heidi didn't exactly smile back. "Aww, what's the matter?" Kristin asked. "I don't think I have enough suit cases," Heidi informed with a frown. They had to laugh at the comment, because they had all thought that Heidi was steaming over Kristin's comment, but she'd fooled them again. "Guess we're gonna have to go shopping." The laughter quickly turned to groans.

"What? This is a necessary thing."

"We had like a major shopping spree just last week," Julia exclaimed. "We can't afford to spend money like it's falling from the sky."

"You don't know that," Heidi defended. "God works in mysterious ways, maybe tomorrow it'll start raining thousand dollar bills."

"Or it could start raining toonies and we could all die from massive head trauma," D pointed out. "Is that the medical definition?" Heidi inquired.

"Did I go through med school?" D shot back.

"Might as well have," Heidi exclaimed.

"Girls, calm down," Julia said. "We'll go shopping for Heidi's extra bags. It's no big deal. Geez, everything is a war with you guys."

"Thank you for noticing," they said, smiling. Julia let out a growl of frustration.

In LA, a few hours later, or something (not good at the timing thing) Juliet was meeting with the 'future boss' of the girls. She couldn't believe that this opportunity had arisen. This was great for her career, and gave the girls strong connections early in theirs. She waited until the woman standing in front of her to finish listening to the demo tape. She knew the girls had worked very hard to make the demo perfect, and was very proud of what they had accomplished. She desperately hoped that the woman would like them. If she didn't, Juliet had no clue what she would tell the girls. The woman finally finished listening and turned to Juliet with a wide smile on her face that looked promising.

"As you know, Ms. Milani, this is a very new record company, and for that reason, we really need new blood, to show that we know what we are doing, and that we can pick groups that will have a long life span within the music community. This is why I must inform you--" Juliet felt her heart make a slow journey toward her feet. They weren't going to be signed. Why was the blasted woman just letting it hang in the air? Just reject us and get it over with so I can go back to my father and tell him that I've failed like he said I would, she almost shouted. "that we look forward to meeting the girls so that we can sign them as soon as possible," the woman finished. Juliet's eyes widened.

"Thank you so much!" Juliet exclaimed. "You'll never regret thisdecision."

"I should hope not," the woman laughed. "Of course, the board will have to hear them sing, but considering it's my company, I'm sure they stand a good chance of getting in."

"Of course, Miss Spears," Juliet exclaimed, happier than she'd been since she'd announced to her father that she'd deserved a chance to prove herself and he'd agreed.

"Please, call me Britney," Britney offered sweetly. "I sincerely hope that we can all be friends. I want my company to be a tight-knit family."

"So do I," Juliet agreed. "I only want what's best for the girls."

"They're already like family, aren't they," Britney asked. Juliet went a little red, but nodded. "I only hope they take to me half as much as they've taken to you."

"Once they get to know you, I'm sure they will," Juliet assured her.

"Enough shop talk," Britney insisted. "Everything they need is set up here in LA?" Juliet nodded again.

"Apartment will be ready in two days. The girls are getting packed as we speak, well, by the sounds of it, Heidi is at least." Britney laughed.

"They sound like an interesting bunch. Could you possibly tell me about them, if it's not too much trouble?"

"Well, they're hard to explain. It would probably easier if you met them, and figured them out for yourself." Britney shrugged.

"Okay then, that's fine." She gave a large smile. "I can't wait to meet them."

author's note: NOW I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKIN, 'AHHHH, BRITNEY SPEARS,' BUT THIS WILL BE A BRITNEY LIKE NO OTHER! SHE'S GONNA BE *GASP* HUMAN! AHHHH, NOW THERE IS SOMETHING TO SCREAM ABOUT.
