"Kimberly!" I knocked on the bathroom door, "Hurry up!" Two minutes later, she came out, makeup done and hair in a bun, wearing a spaghetti strap dress. I took my turn in the bathroom. I changed into a light pink blouse and navy skirt, set my hair in two braids, and put on very little makeup. Half a week earlier, the five of us, Alice, Acyuta, Daisy, Kimmy, and I had gone shopping for the party. We had also gone with Sherry, one of the girls who had planned the party. Now was the day of the big surprise party for Melissa and Antoinette, and we were all getting ready for it.

Justin, Chris, and Joey were picking up Daisy, Kimberly, and me, along with Sherry. The other girls were being picked up by JC and Lance.

"I hate skirts!" I complained as I walked out the bathroom past Kimberly's room.

"Quit your yappin," she laughed.

"All set?" she asked.

"Yea," I answered.

Just then the doorbell rang.

"That must be the guys," Kimberly said as she went downstairs to open the door. Justin and Chris were at the door waiting for us. Joey, Daisy, and Sherry were outside leaning against Justin's Benz, talking to each other. Chris gave Kimberly a peck at the cheek as I walked downstairs.

"You guys ready to go?" Chris asked.

"Yep," Kimberly answered.

"All right," Justin sighed, putting his arm around my waist, "Let's go."

When we arrived Alice, Acyuta, JC, and Lance were already there. *N Sync's crew was setting up the equipment in the backyard. Melissa and Antoinette Jones, the birthday twins, had been taken to the mall by their parents, who were also in on the surprise party. Mr. and Mrs. Jones had left Sherry, Vivian, and Michelle the keys to the house. Vivian and Michelle were two other girls who had planned the surprise party.

At around 7 pm, everyone started taking their placed hiding. I hid behind the couch near the door. Sherry flipped the switch and turned out the lights.

"Shit!" someone tripped over the couch.

"Baby, when the lights go out," someone else started singing.

"Shhh!" another hushed. I heard a car screech outside, then some keys jingling outside a few minutes later. The girls and their parents were home. The door opened, and there stood the twins at the door, each holding 2 to 3 bags of clothing in each hand. Sherry, who was closest to the door flipped the light switch on, and everyone jumped up from their hiding place.

"Surprise!" everyone cheered. Melissa gasped, and both girls dropped their bags, eyes and mouths wide open.

"Happy birthday, girls," their dad walked up behind them, followed by their mom.

Daisy and I went out back to make sure that no one had seen the guys. The only people who knew that they were performing were us and the three girls who had planned the party.

"Sup," Justin walked up to us, hands on his hips.

"The sky," I replied.

"Very funny," Justin laughed sarcastically.

"Whatch guys gonna sing?" Daisy asked.

"Huh?" Justin looked over at her, "Oh, um, Tearin' Up My Heart, I Want You Back, Here We Go, I Drive Myself Crazy, God Must Have Spent, and that little birthday song we always do."

"Cool," I said.

"See you guys later, alright?" Daisy walked back into the house.

"Bye," Justin waved as I followed Daisy.

Fifteen minutes later, Alice walked over to the booming sound system and turned it off.

"Hey! What the hell's going on?" some guy shouted.

"Yea! What's the big idea?" another agreed.

"Well," Alice started to explain, "Everybody, please come out back, were we will have a live performance. As of now, the band will stay anonymous. Thank you."

The crowd headed out back, where there was a little stage. I was standing at the center of it with a microphone in hand.

"Oh, c'mon! Don't tell me SHE's singing!" one girl shouted.

I just laughed into the microphone, "Thank God I'm not!" I joked, then continued, "Well, first of all, I'd like to wish Melissa and Antoinette a happy birthday. Second, I'd like to introduce you to our performers for this evening. Enjoy the show everyone!" I walked off the stage, then five guys came on, with their backs to the crowd.

The guys turned around.

"1...2...3...4..." one of them counted. Music started and the guys broke out dancing along to it. Then the music and dancing stopped abruptly.

The guys tore off there jackets and began singing as the music came back on, "It's tearin' up my heart..." "OMG!!!" one girl shouted.

"It's *N Sync!" another announced.

"Baby, I don't understand..." JC began singing. Someone tapped my shoulder. It was Alice.

"Look," she said, pointing toward the back door. Standing there were Melissa and Antoinette, their mouths open and their eyes practically popping out of their heads.

"This has got to be the best birthday of their lives," I joked.

"Let it go..." JC continued. Alice and I went through the crowd to get the other girls, including the three hostesses (Sherry, Vivian, and Michelle), then we went up to the twins, who were still standing at the back door. "In the corner of my mind," Justin sang his verse.

"Hi guys!" Vivian waved to the girls.

"Huh?" Mel and Ann snapped back to reality.

"Tearin' up my heart and soul..." the guys chorused.

"Thank you so much!" Antoinette ran over to hug Sherry.

"Yea," Melissa agreed, hugging Vivian, "This has GOT to the best birthday of our lives!"

I nudged Alice, "What'd I tell ya?"

"And no matter what I do, I feel the pain, with or without you..." they ended the song with a pose, causing all the girls to scream.
