She Took Him Away

Dawn woke up in a great mood. She usually did after spending the night with Jeff. Jeff and Dawn had been together for about 2 years now. Dawn knew she was in love. She couldn't have been happier with the relationship.

She got out of bed and started to get ready for work. She jumped in the shower and started to sing.

"Twenty twenty twenty-four hours ago, I wanna be sedated. Nothing to do and no where to gooooo, I wanna be sedated..."

She finished and got dressed. When she got out of the bathroom, she found a rose on the bed. There was a note attached to it which read

Dawn

Hi. Be ready for dinner at 8:00 I hate to tell you something.

Jeff

Dawn smiled.

"Hmmm...dinner. I wonder what it's all about."

She went to work thinking of ideas until one of them hit her hard.

"Oh my God! He's going to propose!" She shouted.

Everyone looked at her like she was insane. She blushed and then turned back to her work. 'He's going to propose.' She thought to herself. She went through the rest of the day in a dream.

That night she dressed into her red Chinese dress. Jeff loved that dress on her. She wait patiently for Jeff to come by and pick her up.

DING DONG

"He's here." She did a last minute check and then answered the door.

"Wow. You look beautiful." Jeff said giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Thanks. You don't look to shabby yourself." She answered back.

Jeff was in a simple black suit, but any suit Jeff wore made him look so handsome.

Jeff gave her his arm then walk to the car. He opened the door for her and helped her in.

'He is going to propose. He hasn't been this nice since our first date.' She thought.

They drove in silence to the restaurant. Jeff help her out of the car and walked into the restaurant.

"Two under Timmons." He told the host.

"Yes, right this way please." The host showed them to their table.

"Oh Jeff. This is beautiful. I love it." Dawn said in awe.

"I'm glad." Jeff said with a weak smile.

"So what's the deal here? You said you had to tell me something."

"Yes, ummm...after dinner."

"Ok." Dawn smiled.

~*~ Flash back ~*~

"Hi. This is Jeff." Stacy introduced. "Jeff, this is Dawn. Have fun you two."

"Stacy!!" Dawn yelled after her friend, but it was too late. "Ummm..hi. It's nice to meet you Jeff."

"Nice to meet you too."

Then the uncomfortable silence. They just looked around the room then at each other, then smiled.

"So..umm..what do you do?" Dawn asked Jeff.

"I'm a singer...well..hoping to be." Jeff said.

"Really? Me too. Wow, something in common here." Dawn giggled.

"Do you want to go somewhere? Where we can talk. This party is kind of boring." Jeff said.

Dawn just looked into his blue eyes and melted. All she could do was nod a yes.

~*~Back to the present~*~

"Dawn. It's time for me to tell you what's up." Jeff said looking down.

"What is it Jeff?"

"I did all these to tell you..."

"Jeff, what? What is it? You are starting to worry me."

"Oh God, Dawn, I'm sorry."

"Damn it Jeff! What is it?"

"I've met someone." Jeff finally blurted out.

There was the uncomfortable silence. Dawn sat there in total shock. She didn't know what to do or say. Before she could control it, the tears came flowing from her eyes.

"What did I do? Did I love you too much? Did I love you that much that it pushed you away? Jeff, what did I do?"

"Nothing. It wasn't you." Jeff answered softly. He too was trying to control the tears, but couldn't.

Dawn slowly got up and asked for him to take her home. When they got to her house, they stayed in the car for a sec. Trying to hold on to what was once a wonderful thing.

"So who is she? I have a right to know." Dawn finally got out.

"Her name is Sonia. I met her about 2 months ago an audition. I swear to you, I never did anything with her. It's just my feelings and she told me she felt the same way for me. I'm sorry Dawn."

"Me too." With that she got out of the car and went into her house.

"How could this have happened?" Dawn asked herself. "I thought we were happy."

~*~ Flashback ~*~

"Dawn, come here. I want to show you this." Jeff said.

"What? What is it?" Dawn asked as she came up to him.

"Just this." The he gave her a kiss.

"That was what you had to show me?" Dawn asked.

"Yep. So what do you think?"

"I think you better show it to me again." Dawn giggled.

He laughed and kissed her again.

~*~ Present~*~

"We were so happy. Who is this Sonia girl who took my baby away from me?"

Dawn couldn't sleep that night. All she could do is think of Jeff.

"He's with her right now. Why? What happened? I still don't understand how we could have been so happy and yet someone took him away. She took him away."

Dawn cried herself to sleep.
