A Chris Kirkpatrick Story

=======================================================

"We'll leave you two alone now," Justin said as he, Lance, Joey, and JC walked out of the room.

"Chris," Sherry choked on her words. She gripped Chris' hand tightly. He had been run over by a hit and run driver and was now in the hospital, in critical condition.

She bent over, closed her eyes, and prayed, "Lord, please don't take him away from me. He's all I have and he's the only one I could ever love."

"Uh," Chris groaned as his eyes slowly opened.

"Sherry," he weakly said. Sherry's eyes flew open and she brought her head up.

"Oh, Chris," she sobbed, "Please don't leave me. Don't go, you'll make it." Chris gave a nervous chuckle and coughed.

"Don't worry sweetie, I'll make it," he said.

"Is that a promise?" Sherry strained to smile.

"Of course it's a promise," he laughed, then thought, "I just hope I can keep it."

Chris took Sherry's hand and held it tightly. He saw worry in her eyes.

"Don't let go, Chris," Sherry begged.

"I won't," Chris managed to say.

"Please," Sherry cried, choked with tears, "I love you Chris."

"I l-love you too," he said, "And I always will." After his last word, his eyes closed and he went limp.

"No!" Sherry sobbed.

A week later, Sherry was alone in her car, driving to the beach. Suddenly, Chris, came into her mind. It was their first date.

"Hi sweetie," Chris had said, handing her a dozen roses and a box of chocolates.

"Aww, you're so sweet," Sherry had said to him, "So, where are we going?"

"To the beach," he'd answered, "So go get you're bathing suit!" When they were there, they had so much fun. He had brought along a picnic, and after they ate, they ran around in the water, splashing around and wetting each other.

"Chris," Sherry murmured in the car. She then had another flashback.

"Don't worry, Sherry," Chris had tried to convince her to go on the Dragon Coaster with him in Playland, "Hey, look, I'm scared of heights and I'm going, so come on!"

"Alright," Sherry had laughed, "I'll go. But if I puke, it's gonna be on you."

"And I'll do the same in return," Chris chuckled. After the ride they were both dizzy, but Sherry manages to keep them both standing.

Sherry laughed silently to herself, then frowned, "I miss you, Chris." She suddenly changed her mind, and said aloud, "I'm not going to the beach. She turned and went to the little cliff high above it instead. She got out of the car and stepped up to the edge of it.

She looked up towards the clear blue sky, "Don't ever forget me, Chris. Watch over me."

She closed her eyes, "I love you, Chris, and forever will you be in my heart. I'll never let go of you. I know you're always with me. Wait for me, Chris. We'll be together again someday." And at the last minute, Sherry took a step forward.
