Chapter 2

“How much longer til Maya and Amira arrive?” Hayley asked the others impatiently. They were all sitting around watching the local music channel, waiting til it was time to leave for the meeting.

“A few minutes I think, now shut up, I want to watch this video,” Heidi said, hitting Hayley lightly, not once taking her eyes off of the television. Blink 182 ran across the screen, showing their naked rear-ends like there was no tomorrow.

“Fine,” Hayley said, flipping through her Seventeen magazine she had received in the mail this morning. Blink 182’s video ended, the channel turning to the DJ who was introducing an up-and-coming group in the U.S.

“Ha, look at those guys, what are we watching?” Hayley said laughing.

Nancy bounded down the steps, singing the lyrics to one of her favourite songs that must have just been on the radio. “It’s not that bad is it Hayley?” Nancy replied after seeing the scene unfold before her. She was never one to judge others easily, usually preferring to get to know them first.

She looked down at Heidi’s hair, noticing it had changed since last night. “It’s blue,” Nancy said confused.

Heidi nodded her head, “Hayley and I did it this morning. I kinda like it, but it’s not permanent or anything. It’ll only last for today.”

“Yes, well…..not THAT bad. They are kinda cute, although I’d never date one of them,” Hayley said nonchalantly, getting back to the earlier convo, sitting up from the couch.

She walked over to door, waiting for Maya and Amira to show up. The doorbell rang just as she got there.

“Woah! Psychic!” Hayley cried as she opened the door, allowing the two girls to enter although they all just went out to Maya’s car right away, wanting to get to the meeting on time although it was now gonna be almost impossible since they were 10 minutes late already.

“So, any idea on who it might be?” Amira asked the others, trying to start a conversation which was unusual cause usually the others couldn’t stop talking.

“Some British group would be my guess,” Heidi replied, staring out the window at some passing guys. She smiled as the car sped past them, approaching the building.

“I never woulda guess,” Maya replied sarcastically. She parked the car and got out, leading the way to the front doors.

“Fifth floor,” Amira said to the bellhop who quickly pressed the elevator button, sending the elevator shooting up to the fifth floor. The brakes screeched as they neared their destination, eventually coming to a complete stop.

“Bye girls,” the bellhop said as the girls exited the elevator laughing.

“We’re sure to make a good first impression considering we’re like already 15 minutes late thanks to that traffic jam,” Amira said, a bit stressed from the thought of going on tour with some people she’s never even met.

“We’re touring with guys. Guys are late for everything,” Maya said, always one to find humour in any situation.

“The others are waiting for you,” Lisa, the secretary, told the girls as the walked swiftly towards the office where the meeting was being held.

“Thanks Lissy,” Hayley replied hurriedly. Lissy was Lisa’s nickname, one only the girls and Mark called her.

The girls reached the door, Amira placing her hand gently on the knob. They burst in, not caring if the meeting was already underway.

The guys all looked up at the people interrupting, soon realizing it was their touring group.

“Glad you decided to show up girls,” Mark said sternly. He was kidding which was typical of Mark.

“It was alllllll Heidi’s fault,” Hayley replied giggling as she pointed towards the back of the group.

“Sorry I’m late. I had to grab a drink,” Heidi said, appearing at the door, not hearing any of the previous conversation. Scott looked towards her, admiring her bright blue hair, finding it kind of attractive. Not many girls he knew could pull something like that off.

“Next time will you try and get the girls here on time,” Mark said, acting like her father. Heidi looked around confused.

“Yeah try and get us here on time next time,” Hayley replied jokingly, sitting down on one of the plush chairs in Mark’s expensive office.

“But....” Heidi replied, not realizing they were playing a joke on her. The guys in the office all started laughing at her, until she turned angry.

“You all suck, especially you Hayley,” Heidi replied, hitting her playfully on the arm. Hayley laughed, ducking away from her hand. She was smart, knowing full well how much Heidi hurt when she did that.

Heidi sat down in the only empty chair which was next to Hayley and across from all the others.

“Well I guess we can start now,” Jerry replied. “I’m Jerry,” he said, holding his hand out to shake.

“Put her there Jerry,” Maya said high fiving him. Jerry looked stunned, then pulled his hand back in, slightly embarrassed.

“Girls, this is 5ive, the group you’ll be touring with for a couple of months. 5ive, this is escape, and escape is what you’ll want to do after being with them for that long,” Mark said, trying to make a joke but the guys didn’t really understand, either that or it wasn’t funny to them at all. Mark than introduced everyone individually.

Hayley turned to Heidi, then to the guys and back at Heidi. Heidi looked at Hayley knowing exactly what she was thinking.

“This was the group in tv this morning,” Hayley whispered to Heidi.

“I know, but they look much better in person though,” she whispered, the girls started giggling causing everyone to look at them.

“Is there something you two want to share with us?” Mark said, sounding like the girls second grade teacher.

“Nothing you’d care to know,” Heidi replied, smiling him her famous innocent smile. “Now keep going,” she replied, signaling him to continue.

“Okay, anyways, you know already you’ll be touring for a couple months. Your first stop is a surprise so neither of you will know where it is,” Jerry continued, looking at each of them individually making sure they understood. “It’s a world tour so you’ll be all over the place. Now it’s gonna be tough, very tiring. The longest you’ll EVER stay in one place is 3 days and that will almost never happen. You’ll usually arrive somewhere in the morning and leave that night or possibly the next morning, depending on the schedule,” Jerry went on, telling them more and more details.

“Well I guess our meeting is done for the day. You can now go do whatever you want although I suggest that you all get to know each other before the tour starts. We don’t want any mishaps or anything now would we?” Jerry said, mainly looking at the guys, especially after the accidentally set the hotel in Dublin on fire.

“What are you talking about? We’re good little boys,” Scott protested as he left the office, followed by the other members of 5ive and soon after the girls of Escape followed.

“So you girls want to get together or something? You know, to get to know each other better since we'll be touring together and all,” Abs asked as they all waited for the elevator to arrive.

The girls looked at each other then to Maya. She nodded, “I guess that would be okay. Any requests as to where?”

Abs looked at Scott mischievously, then to the girls, “Yeah I’ve got a few.”
