~Perfect One~ (a song from the Lit cd.)
*Tori and Josh* (Josh Jackson) When they fell in love- He was staring at her again, he knew it, but he couldn’t help it. He’d known her since his parents had moved his family to the ‘burbs to give him a “normal” childhood. He could still remember the day they moved in. She had been playing in her front yard when they pulled up. She had run over and asked his parents every question she thought up, until they made him play with her. She was 2 years younger and a girl, so he felt it was his obligation to torment the hell out of her. Hey! He couldn’t help it he was only 6!
By the time he had reached 9th grade, he felt it was his duty to protect and look out for her. Like the time she had broken her leg doing a cartwheel, in front of the school. She hadn’t wanted people to see her crying, so he had carried her all the way to her house and joined her mom and dad while the doctor re-broke it and casted it. He’d yet to hear anyone scream as loud as she had that day.
What had been the turning point? the thing that took away his feelings of big-brotherness and replaced them with the gutter minded things he was thinking now? Maybe it was when.......
“I’m willing to risk you getting sick of me for invading your personal domain.......Dammit Josh! How am I supposed to help you read through your lines if you aren’t even paying attention.
“Huh?What? Oh! That was my line, wasn’t it?” Josh answered. So much for his happy delusion land moment. Maybe he could go back later, He hoped so.
“No actually Andy was planning on shacking up w/Dawson instead of Pacey.” Tori answered sarcastically. Then she grew curious. “What exactly where you thinking about, anyway?”
Should he tell her? Should he let her know that he was falling for her? Would she feel the same?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The only reason she had agreed to go over lines with him was so that she could spend more time with him. She didn’t even understand what she was reading, half the time. There were alot of things that she didn’t understand in her life lately. Like how she was feeling about Josh. A year ago he had just been, Josh, typically guy next door. Well maybe a little cuter than the average guy next door type. But now for some reason it was like she didn’t know enough about him, and she knew alot. She’d been with him when he found out that his parents were getting a divorce. She remembered how he’d stolen his parents car and crossed the border into Mexico, gotten so drunk that he’d passed out, leaving her to drive home. She had dragged him up the stairs to his bedroom and even put his pajamas on him. That had been an interesting night. It was a miracle his parents had both been gone. Probably both at their respective “affairs” places. She knew him better than anyone else. Including how he was with his girlfriends. How he usually dumped them after 2 weeks because he got “bored.” Is that what she wanted? To throw away a 15year old friendship for a 2 week fling? And how could she tell Josh, anyway? What if he laughed in her face and told her to get real? Could she handle that? No. She couldn’t. but she also couldn’t handle not knowing if he maybe felt the same. She definitely couldn’t handle not knowing. She closed her eyes. Why did life have to be so complicated? Boy am i getting delusional, I can even feel what kissing his lips would be like. How soft his lips would be, how they would taste. Wait a second! If this was a daydream why did his lips taste like a Quaterpounder w/cheese? Her eyes flew open and she found that she was really kissing him! Or he was kissing her. In her shocked state she had become frozen. Josh realized this and pulled away. She sat staring at him for 5 minutes. Josh became very preoccupied with the menu in front of him. Finally she couldn’t take the silence anymore.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She was sitting there with her elbow on the table and her chin in her hand. She looked as if she were thinking about two different things. One good, One bad. He almost started to laugh at her. Her face would take on this little smile and then go into this grim look. He wondered what she was thinking about. And then she got this really cute little pout on her face and he couldn’t help himself. He leaned across the table and kissed her. Her lips were soft and tasted like the chocolate shake she had just finished. She kissed him back. He felt, like, this was right. Like this was how it was supposed to be. Suddenly she stopped kissing him. He pulled away and sat deep into the booth, embarrassed. She was staring at him like he had just told her something shocking. He picked up the menu in front of him and tried to hide behind it. Finally he had to know what she was thinking.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I....” they started to say at the same time. “Go ahead” Tori said. She couldn’t think of anything to say.
“Okay. Well.... what can I say except that, well I’ve wanted to do that for a long time.” Josh said looking her straight in the eye. He felt like the kiss said everything important..”And i don’t know what else to say except to ask if you feel the same way.”
Tori didn’t want to pick this apart and analyze it right now, she didn’t want to talk. She leaned over the table and cupped his face in her hands and kissed him. They made out in the booth at McDonalds until one of the sweeper people came over and asked them if they could “please, get a room.” They broke apart and looked into each others eyes. “So what happens now?”
~*And that’s when they realized they were in love*~
