DWEEBJOURNAL

No, no, drearies--not LiveJournal, Not DeadJournal--DweebJournal!! Cha-ching!! *whips it out* Aye, this is the small section dedicated to The Dweebers, their status and whatever else happens in the everyday lives of three messed-up teenagers who have dreams--*huge* dreams. It might be mostly me adding here (isn't it always -_-) but I'll go bug Tricia and Carmen for input when I get the chance.

Okay. If you ask why I put our log up here in this site and slave on the HTML instead of just simply adding a new entry to my DeadJournal, which I haven't updated for months I think, some few minions from my class will hunt me down and kill me--or at least threaten me, cajole me and bombard me with questions (think, "Did you really perform?? "As if you really did a good job..." "O-kaaaaaayyy..." "Just how did you get yourself in that--you call that a--'band'--with so-and-so? So-and-so are such b----es" and you get my drift. May seem a little harsh, but I don't want anyone to be accused or hurt here, and this is just a note, so you can murder me if you want to after--just deal well with the other Dweebs or I will rise up from the dead and chase after you. Hope you got all that.

December 1, 2002

Huwee!! It's the first of December!! ^0^ If the Philippines wasn't living in the smack middle of the tropics, we'd have snow by now!! *cries because she wants SNOW* Oh well. It's also the authentic start of Christmas season, which I'm happy for, because Christmas season = food + presents + church + Simbang Gabi + Christmas Vacation!! (my, how selfish I am).

But I'm even happier about yesterday, Tricia's birthday outing, which I can probably say by present standards was the best Dweeb Day Tricia, Carmen and I ever had.

It all started in Carmen's place around 3:30 or so when we decided to head down to the extra apartment (404 1S) and have a serious jam session. To top it off, the place was FANTASTIC--it was the Dweeb Pad which we will show off to MTV when we get rich and famous, if ever so (:p). It had two rooms, one with twin beds and one with a big bed and TV, a kitchen, a VERY comfortable bathroom (I had the luck of the Irish to go potty there first) and lastly, the small but cozy green-leather-couch living room where we decided to chill and practice. It was there that I tried out two new pieces ("Where Are You Going" by The Dave Matthews Band and "Barenaked" by Jennifer Love Hewitt), Carmen studied her Oido guitar book at the chord section for "Let It Be", and Tricia got her guitar tuned (it still sounded a bit weird, but aw hell). It eventually came to one of the landmarks of the day--the recordings. After Tricia and I (sneaky Carmen ran off without doing hers) recorded our voice/guitar clips of the "All You Wanted" chorus, Carmen brought her MD player down and we did an AMAZING catch of an acoustic version of the song. It was so surprising when we listened to it and found out how harmonious it actually sounded--CD quality, dude, and I'm not lying or being a braggart!! A few mistakes, but that was really good! I congratulate you profusely, Dweebs!!

Later after that, we headed back to 607 and called Mr. Jaime Zabalos, the boy we're checking out to be our bassist. He's a really nice guy, good taste in music (except for AVRIL!! XD XD XD), good taste in literature (you should've been there; Carmen screamed in ecstasy with he said he liked Harry Potter) and a friend who can play drums. We'll consider, I guess, but I look forward to meeting him again.

In the car on the way to Alabang's mall, Mom called to make sure I was okay--and Tricia got her now-legendary crazy-ass idea--IF WE PERFORMED AT HER LOLA'S CLASS PARTY!!! :D :D :D And we agreed. We'd practiced enough, we'd recorded on Carmen's MD, it would be so AWESOME, and beyond our dreams. And we also discovered our fateful anniversary was exactly two weeks ago.

*flashback* We imagine a dumb, short, scruffy bespectacled kid in a baggy white Xavier T-shirt with a matching bag and khaki pants with a matching cap looking for seats in front at the EDSOR Variety Show. A pair of best friends calling her over to join them, and she agrees, having a blast while they enjoy the show and talk. Then it hits, the historic moment where they watch a sophomore band of PLC, called "Rushed", perform--bass, acoustic, singers and all--and an unnamed Xavier band, COMPLETE for rock genre, perform favored songs--another heart-stopping moment--Incubus's "DRIVE". It was then that the three vow to make a band. It is named, and labeled on the scruffy nerd's mini acoustic guitar. Two weeks later, the first serious jam session, recording, and LIVE PERFORMANCE.

Happy days, now and then. :) Thank you so much, Lord, because without you, none of this would have happened at all.

At the mall, we visited Tower Records to look at the CDs. You should have seen how crazy I was over the Nirvana, APC and Hoobastank merch--I was practically weeping at twin posters of Kurt Cobain, and screaming that he shouldn't have died. You should know that--poor me--it's been a VEEEERY long while since I stepped into a CD store and checked the available purchases. It was grand--we fiddled on the stage, checked the CDs for good albums and cashed. Tricia got the latest Vines and Foo Fighters albums (happy birthday, girl!! :D), I got a Nirvana keychain for my wallet, and we all got Incubus pins (Carmen couldn't buy hers because her wallet got lost!! :( )--die-hard fans, yes we are.

We fast-forward to Dr. Alvarez's house, where we practiced some more in the library, made another recording of "All You Wanted" (not sure if it was better or worse), and ate an absolutely fuckin' sumptuous dinner--inihaw na baboy, prawns with butter sauce, grilled chicken, rice, dinuguan, laing, rice, and afterwards, the delectable strawberry shortcake. I've never tasted anything like it in my LIFE.

Then it came--the performance. After a few practices and a call from my big brother Bug, we stood above the stairs (in my case, sitting on a chair with the Dweeb guitar on my lap) and sang "All You Wanted". It was RAD, we were nicely in sync, and I played fairly well--I messed up where they left me to do that damn sucky vocal solo, though, but it went unnoticed ;^_^;. I admit, we were great. Some of the old guys wanted an encore, so we practiced for a few more minutes and I got another call, and after, we played "When You Say Nothing At All." I messed up on the guitar a few times and Tricia blacked out by accident (didn't know if Carmen fumbled here too, however), but the mistake was forgiven, we have photos which will come up soon, and except for those few parts, the concert went VERY WELL, and it ended with Tricia and Carmen saying, "I'll never forget this day."

And indeed, I never shall. *g*

December 7, 2002

You know what? It seems we Dweebs are really serious to be headed for this band-thingamajiggle. Sure, a lot of kids in our batch want a band--but like either D1 or D2 said, it's probably just for the sake of having one and living on a cool idea. But check us out--it's so unreal it's amazing. Here I am, working my stiff bee-hind off on this website and pouring out all those things that little angsty-surprised teenies do out with just for the sake of hanging around to work with three awesome and immensely talented friends. You know what, I'm even starting to feel like I'm NOT a nobody in this world. And that's saying HUGE, dude.

And our jam sessions are starting to really turn out well. What I mean by jam session, however, is the day we took off yesterday to just hang around my house, jut some stuff off the computer, play around in the park and just attempt to play something. It was dead fun, talking to them, listening to Carmen's MD player with Busted recordings and pointless conversations and laughing like freaking hell when I fell off my skateboard and crashed into the garbage can pile in the garage and they were so worried--it was hilarious!! Mind you, I didn't get hurt, but that was the second time I slipped and got my khaki pants dirty--LOL, reminds me, by weird coincidence we all wore pants with shades of khaki yesterday :D

Here's another thing: we're really pushing to write a song. All after Tricia left, Carmen and I tried figuring a sequence of chords out for her song, Beam of Light (check it out at her song-page, I'll add the tabbed version sometime soon...^_~) and WE ACTUALLY FOUND A NICE TUNE!! ^0^ ^0^ ^0^ All we need to do is work out a good melody, which Carmen should be working on *nods* It's too bad I won't be able to track the guitar (I composed it!! I feel so fricking HAPPY!! *jumps around*) if we ever perform the queer but excellent suicidal song since I'm the bass, but Tricia and Carmen deserve to take the all the credit, however, since they've been working so hard.

Wonder how Cara is. They had a game yesterday and they have another one today. I hope they did well, and I wish them the best today--intentions for Kiddo as well, since the poor stubborn child twisted her ankle ;-; I'm eternally grateful to Cara for agreeing to be our drummer, even if it means we have to jam all the way in Ayala since Cara's got the drum set...*shrugs*

Oh well...we had a great time. Hope all you other dweebs had a happy weekend, as we had.
