Band News

(Old News)

06/05/05: Fantastic job, everyone at the Pops Concert last night!! I've heard many good things about it! And, to top it all off, Tri-M made a lot of money from donations, food/drink, etc. Thanks to everyone from Tri-M--and others--who helped set up and sell food/drink; it may have been tedious, but it was worth it! Sadly, for seniors this was your last high school performance!! :) And for everyone else, your next performance isn't for awhile--but that doesn't mean you should stop practicing. Summer lessons are extremely recommended, even if you're going off to college next year (continue participating in Band, if possible). Make sure you have turned in your marching uniform, as well as your concert outfit. Jazz Ensemble auditions are this Tuesday afterschool (you should have already schedule an audition time with Mr. Marsland). If you forgot to pick up your Harkness Chapel concert CD at the Pops Concert, make sure to let Mr. M. know. Period 3 will be cleaning up during class tomorrow. Seniors are basically done for the year; but grades 9-11 have to start practicing the music for graduation (June 24th)--you can count on being there, even if it's raining (this gym's bigger now). Well, that's pretty much it. Again, congratulations to everyone on a really great performance last night!!

05/16/05: Wow, I can't believe the Virginia Beach trip's over, can you? It happened so fast! I think we performed very well, but unfortunately the judges didn't think so (we'll discuss what we did wrong in Band class). It was quite a tiring trip, I have to say; I hope everyone had a good time! :) Now that the trip's over, we need to start bringing our concert clothes--dry-cleaned, of course--into school. But don't worry about it; take your time. The Pops Concert ticket pre-sale has started; tickets are $7. Good news: senior parents/family get to sit towards the front (your parents will be happy!). We're trying to get as many people to come to the concert as possible, as we'll have more room in the new, expanded gym--if we sell-out, we could have 700 people there, or more! In order to do that though, we need to advertise. If you have any ideas or you'd like to help, contact Jay Pelham or anyone else on Tri-M. For your information, the Just Desserts Awards banquet is next Monday at St. Mary Church in the Stonington Borough. All music participants will be recognized, and several seniors will receive scholarships. Everyone should come--if not for the award(s), then for the dessert! The concert is creeping up on us (June 4th), so you should start practicing your music. If you don't already know, the Pops theme is road trip USA; we'll be playing songs from different places across the US, including: Louisiana, Texas, Kansas, and Westerly. Well anyway, great job everyone at Virginia Beach!

If you have anything to contribute to the web site--pictures, information, music clips, links, etc.--please email the webmaster. Also, please visit the Interact page; sign the guestbook or email the webmaster your comments, so the site is the best it can possibly be. Thanks a lot!!
