My Second Taylor Interview (7/30/04)

i have to thank the man for being so terrific as to once again respond to my interview request just a few hours after i sent it. here it is:

1. as beautiful as the yellow les paul is, do you ever play your other one on tour anymore? (or still have it?)
i take the brown one on tour as a backup. there is a new song called "something to do" that has a capo on it so i use it for that song as well. all around the yellow one is a more solid guitar. im not comfortable switching back and forth alot...it takes me awhile to adjust to different guitars. im the same way with my clothes....i like to wear one thing forever until im sick of it, then never wear it again.

2. has the band set a time frame for recording your new songs yet? (speaking of which, the slide guitar on "tell me soon" is absolutely gorgeous. george harrison would be proud.)
september/october. thanks for the compliment.

3. what music have you been listening to lately and/or would recommend to rooney fans?
badfinger, the sweet, john lennon, led zep...... ....... .......

4. do you play any instruments other than guitar (and uke)? if not, are there any in particular you'd like to learn?
i try to play a little lap steel here and there. i love the drums but im not great.

and these burning questions i culled from the messageboards at the officail website:
5. Were any of the new songs we've heard written by you?
none of my compositions have surfaced in live shows yet.

6. If you could trade places with a member of any other band (dead or alive) who would it be?
i dont know. im not sure i really believe in that.

7. what are some pros and cons of being a rock musician with growing celebrity status?
i dont know. i dont analyze celebrity because i know im not one.

8. What is the best thing about being home now?
prepping the new record. moving to an apartment.

9. If you could produce a broadway musical, what would it be about and why?
the one about queen. they do it in london. its cool because its about queen.

10. If you could sit down with any guitarist from the past (that you admire) and chat with them, whats one question you would ask them and who would it be?
i dont know. im not that keen on hanging out with your heroes and picking they're brain on every little thing they did. i'd rather just get to know someone and hopefully there can be a mutual respect and not a one way street where i am just a fanboy.

11. Can you share your favourite inside joke, without explaining it?
no.

12. Do you have any favourite memories or stories from the Spit and Sweat Tour?
the whole thing was a blast. it was our best tour.

thanks again to everyone who contributed questions via the messageboards; i would've liked to use more but i didn't want to overwhelm and bore him with too many.
