was robert in the princess diaries? i'll take care of several questions with this answer: first of all, yes, he played michael moscovitz in the princess diaries, and taylor and ned also appear in the movie as band members in the garage scene, in which they play blueside. although robert is credited as robert schwartzman in the film, he goes by robert carmine now to separate his acting and muscial careers and to honor his late grandfather, carmine coppola. and yes, he is a member of the coppola family, his brother is jason schwartzman (drummer for phantom planet), his mother is actres talia shire, and his cousin is nicholas cage. robert also had a small part in the virgin suicides, and appeared in a recent john lennon tribute concert, singing "this boy" with sean lennon and rufus wainwright.
