The Rockwood Color Guard

The Rockwood High School Color Guard is an integral part of the Rockwood High School Band. Year after year, these ladies work up routines to the competive shows put on by the High School Band. Considerable work, talent, and resources go into the production of what the audience and judges see each year.

The color guard is instructed by Charleen Burdette. Charleen is an alumnus of the Rockwood High School Band. Charleen was a student of Eddie Sharp and Mike Kincaid, and was a member of the "Auxilliary" as it was called then. The auxilliary was an award winning element of the band program. The Color Guard Motto: Positive Mental Attitude

With a "positive mental attitude" we strive to beleive in our self as an individual and believe in, encourage and support our team mates. By being positive, we can accomplish the goals that we set for ourselves.

The Color Guard is an integral part of the award winning Rockwood High School Band. Although Color Guard is by definition a sport due to its physical and competitive aspects, it is also considered an art.

The Color Guard is a performance ensemble that rehearses with the band during first period and during the fall on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30 P.M. - 5:30P.M. The guard also has sectional practice on Monday and Tuesday from 5:45 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 5:45 P.M. - 6:30 P.M. The guard performs with the band at Friday night football games and at competitions.

The Color Guard experience itself is like no other. Physical tolerance is needed to put together movement, dancing, and equipment work at the same time. Color Guard is an awesome experience for the performer and the spectator
