PAY
-The park district isn’t out to make money off bands. All they need to do is break even. To break even, they have to cover the cost of employees at the show, electricity, heat, cleanup. Three employees, the usual number at shows, cost slightly less than $200. So that’s the flat fee the park district will charge for rental at shows with 2-3 employees. If it’s a huge show, where four employees are needed, the charge will be $250.
Starting in 2004, the park district fees for teen bands will increase: If paid attendance is less than 115 - $200 to EGPD If paid attendance is 115-149, $250 to EGPD If paid attendance is 150 or more - $300 to EGPD
- Any money leftover is split evenly between the bands and used to pay a sound guy, if you used one. One representative from each band will be asked to fill out a pay sheet and your share of the door will be mailed to you in 2-3 weeks.
- At every show, anyone NOT a band member, will be asked which band(s) they are there to see. They CAN mark down more than one band, if they are there to see more than one band. The band who draws the most at each show will be invited back for a reward show with 4 other bands who drew the most at their shows. And the band who draws the most at THAT show will receive an extra $100. This will be an ongoing ‘contest’ to encourage bands to promote their shows and get people there. A band can only win the $100 prize once every six months. If a band winds up in a reward show, brings the most people but has won sometime in the previous six months, that band will be ineligible to win and the prize will go to the band that brought in the second most people to that show.
-If your band is invited to play a show with a touring band, payment will be
as follows...
First - Venue rental is paid
Second - Sound guy is paid
Third - Tour band is paid $50
Fourth - The rest of the bands get paid, up to $50.
If there is money left after all these are paid, that money will be split
evenly between the bands.
There are exceptions to every rule, of course. In this case, some very big
bands require a 'guarantee' to play. We don't 'guarantee' payment at Elk
Grove. We are not set up for that and cannot afford to lose money if a
show tanks. However, other arrangements may be possible, such as pay by
percentage.
- New payment rules for 'Reward Shows', as of April 16th, 2004. Because reward shows are earned by bands who work the hardest to get the most people to an earlier 'qualifying' show, bands are expected to be working just as hard or even harder to get people to these shows, to win the extra $100 pay. Because some bands seemed to have slacked off however, pay at REWARD SHOWS ONLY will now be based on percentages. Simply put, bands that bring in the most people will be paid more. This avoids paying $75 to a band that doesn't promote and only brings 25 to a show, when the same $75 goes to other bands that work hard to get 100 people to a show.
Example: Say I add up the tally sheet and find that 100 people came for these bands... Band A brought 25 Band B - 25 Band C - 50
Band C would get a full 50% of the total bands' money. The other two bands would split the other 50%, getting only 25% each because they brought less people than band C. This new payment policy is ONLY for reward shows.
