Mama Greenthing formed in Rockville, MD in December, 1997 when a group
of musicians with a variety of musical tastes and experiences joined
forces.
Members of Mama Greenthing have performed at notable DC area venues such
as the Kennedy Center, the Omni Shoreham, and Blues Alley, as well as
numerous bars, clubs, and private parties.
This union of seasoned musicians has resulted in distinctive and catchy
original music that combines classic rock, funk, and alternative rock
influences.
In addition to its original material, Mama Greenthing has
developed a wide repetoire of popular cover songs from the 70's through
90's. Combining its original music with popular cover songs has enabled
the band to mix things up and entertain audiences at a variety of
venues. This "something for everybody" approach allows Mama to feel
right at home headlining at a club or playing all night at a local pub.
The band has performed throughout the DC Metro area and continues to
receive a great response from crowds. "Listen to Mama", the band's first
recording effort to date, is a demo recording including four songs
chosen to highlight the stylistic range of this group. The band's goal
is to continue building its reputation as a performing group in the DC
area, and to embark on a recording career.
