C: Diazepam.
I: treatment of anxiety related insomnia. Muscle relaxant for the treatment of the alcohol withdrawal & for the relief of epileptic seizures. To sedate people undergoing certain uncomfortable medical procedures.
D: Status epilepticus adult &childn 5-10mg IV at rate <- 5mg/min. may repeat at 10-15mins interval. Max: 30mg. Anxiety 2-20mg IV and may repeat in 3-4hr. Tetanus 2-20mg IV at interval of 2-8hr.
CI: History of drug or alcohol abuse.
SP: Pregnant and breastfeeding women, patients with severe resp. diseases, impaired kidney or liver function.
AR: drowsiness, dizziness, confusional state in the elderly, skin rashes.
DI: Valproic acid, blockers, cimetidine, alcohol, other CNS depressants.
P/P: Amp 10 mg/2ml x 2ml x 10’s, 100’s (P59/amp).
