DOPAMINE HCL

 

I: correction of hemodynamic imbalances present in shock due to MI, Trauma, endotoxic septicemia, open heart surgery, renal failure & chronic cardiac decompensation as in refractory congestion failure.

 

D: begin infusion at doses of 2.5um/kg/min in patients who are likely to respond to modest increments of heart force and renal perfusion. In more seriously ill patients, begin infusion at doses of 5ug/kg/min and increase gradually using 5-10ug/kg/min increments up to a rate of 20-50ug/kg/min as needed.

 

CI: pheochromocytoma; uncorrected tachyarrhythmias or venticular fibrillation.

 

SP: hypovolemia; occlusive vascular disease; diabetes mellitus.

 

AR: GI upsets; ectopic beats, tachycardia, anginal pain, palpitations, hypertension; dyspnea, headache, vasocinstriction, infrequently aberant conduction.

 

DI: effects may be potentiated by MAO’S.
