D: adult 150mg Bid. Duodenal ulcer 300mg at bedtime or 150 mg BID for >- 4wk. Gastric ulcer 300mg bedtime or 150mg BID >- 6 wk. Maintenance; 150 mg daily at bedtime. Zollinger-Eillison syndrome initially 150mg TID. Max: 6g. prophylaxis against NSAID induced ulceration 150mgBID during therapy w/ NSAIDs. Treatment of NSAID induced GI symptoms. 150mg BID for 8wk. GERD 150mg BID or 300 mg at bedtime for up to 8-12 wk. In severe esophagitis dosage may be increased to 150mg QID for up to 12 wk. Patient at risk of stress related ulceration of upper GIT 150BID. Acid aspiration syndrome during anesth 150mg the previous evening, 12 hr before general anesth in the obstetric patients & on commencement of labor & 6 hrly intervals thereafter. Childn. Duodenal or gastric ulcer 2-4mg/ body wt BID up to max of 300mg/day.
SP: Exclude malignancy before treatment. Severe cases of cirrhosis, renal impairment. Lactation.
AR: rarely, bradycardia, atrioventicular & cardiac arrest. Confusion, loss of color of vision, aggressiveness, hallucinations, severe headache, recurrent parotids,hepatotoxicity. Increased intraocular pressure. Vasculitic rash, mild erythema multiforme. Reversible leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis. Urticaria, angioneurotic edema, fever, hypotension, anaphylactic shock.
DI: antacids, alcohol, glipizide, glyburide, metoprolol, theophylline, warfarin, midazolam, nifedipine, phenytoin, procainamide.
P/P: Film coated tab 150mg x 60’s. 300 mg x 60’s.
