Known to many as the "street kid" Donnie was born Donald E. Wahlberg in Dorchester, Massachusetts (1969).

Donnie was raised in a large family. As a child Donnie states that he was always trying to be the center of attention.

When Donnie was ten he joined his first group, Risk. In risk he enjoyed rapping and break-dancing with his friends. During his attendance at the William Monroe Trotter school he joined his second group, The Kool Aid Bunch. Fellow New Kid, Danny, was also a member of the group. When he was approached by Maurice Starr to form part of an all-white, all-singing, all-dancing act he jumped at the opportunity. Donnie was very enthusiastic about being a New Kid and this tended to show in live performances. Although his singing was not considered to be in the same league as fellow New Kids Joey and Jordan he often sang lead on New Kids songs. New Kids hits such as "Hangin' Tough", "Cover Girl" and "Games" featured Donnie as lead vocalist.

While in the New Kids, Donnie got involved in music production. He co-wrote "Are You Down" and "New Kids On The Block" on the New Kids debut album. He went on to be involved in producing tracks for every New Kids On The Block album released. He was particularly involved in the production of the "Face The Music" album.

Outside of New Kids On The Block, Donnie produced and work with artists such as Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch and Tommy Page.

Since the break-up of New Kids On The Block Donnie has been pursuing a career in acting. He has starred in movie hits such as "The Sixth Sense" and "Ransom". More recently Donnie worked with Steven Spielberg on the 10-part mini series "Band of Brothers" and currently stars in a television show called "Boom Town".

Despite pursuing an acting career, Donnie made time to help fellow ex-New Kids Jordan and Joe with the production of their debut solo albums.
