what we thought about the shows...

01-25-03 - lezell's cotillion. we practiced for this one really well. we planned on playing everywhere then dualing banjos into happy birthday and to end it with swing, swing. of course, it did not go that way. 3/4 of the way into everywhere, my guitar string broke [i believe it was the B string - the string integral to play the next song], so the next song, dualing banjos, turned into jared's solo banjo song into happy birthday. good thing i was playing the bass for swing, swing right after that. i think it went well - michelle did a glorious job on the rice-tupperware shaking - but then there was the blood-curdling high-pitched noise she made on the keyboard during the bridge, or whatever. we've made a promise to ourselves to never play cotillions again. ever.

01-25-03 - golfland. i think our performance at golfland [right after the cotillion] was ten times better than the one at the party. just because it came with free golf. so here's the story:

after our performance at the wyndham hotel, it was about 10:30pm and we needed something to do [besides going to my house to eat rice]. christine, clutch, scooter jared, and i [micaela] decided to go to golf land [dianne stayed at the party to 'dance!dance!dance!']. when we arrived, christine tried to bargain with our new best friend, austin [the asian guy with the british name], to get a 'musician's discount' because we are poor pathetic losers [mostly poor]. well, one thing led to another, and so, in exchange for an impromptu concert in front of the golf course, we got a free game of golf for the four of us. we set our stuff up [i took over drums because dianne wasn't there, and my guitar broke anyway] and played for those golfland dudes. i think we played brain stew and swing swing, then jared [aka scooter] did his drum solo and some offspring. we then enjoyed an exciting game of 'speed golf'. it's called 'speed golf' because we only had about ten minutes left after our performance to golf before the place closed. by the last hole the three of us [michelle wanted to save her pass, clutchie clutchie] had all lost our balls and found ourselves whacking things with our clubs in the end. we were all winners in that round of speed golf. the only loser was michelle because she didn't play. VICTORY!

12-21-02 - the yfc talent show went smoothly - especially since we did not really practice that much. the highlight of the night, however, was our 'after-party' at the hick'ry pit, later moved to denny's, where chirstine drank a glass of water with tabasco sauce, butter, country gravy, maple syrup, ketchup, salt, artificial sweetener, bbq sauce, and a dash of pepper. tasty.

12-07-02 - our performance at the nd xmas ball was rockin cool. especially when we got kicked off the parking lot on the 2nd song. it's okay - the fire alarm was set off later that night and we got to experience the excitement of making strawberry daiquiris.
