Taking Me Over
Chapter 6: How to Get There?
“I just called Louie to tell him we’ll be late, and he said the thing with Chris and the background music would be fine,” Greg said hanging up the phone and turning to where the other guys and girls were sitting worriedly.
“How did you guys think you were gonna get to the concert?”
“We figured we’d call one of our parents or something, but it got too late, so I guess they assumed we were there already, and...we’re not.”
“Well does anyone have any ideas?” asked Frankie looking at Mallory expectantly.
“Why do I have to be the one with the ideas?!” Mal exploded frustratedly, “If you were a normal guy, stuff like this wouldn’t happen!”
“I…” Frankie looked hurt and confused.
Lindsay cleared her throat, “Jesse, what about your friend, what’s her name…Jessica? Doesn’t she live around here?”
“Yeah I think so……whyyyyyy?” Jesse asked.
“Can she drive?”
“Yeahhh I think so wh…oooooo!” he exclaimed finally getting it, “Yeah, yea she can! Let me go call her!”
“Am I missing something here?” asked Frankie puzzledly.
“DUH!! She can give us…uh I mean, you guys a ride!” Mally exclaimed.
“Oh, oh I get it, hah,” Frankie laughed awkwardly.
“Men,” muttered Mallory.
“Jesse’s so smart,” sighed Emma.
“BLAH!!” Erin coughed making a gagging motion, “All this lovey dovey stuff is gonna make me puke!”
“I was just stating the facts,” murmured Emma.
“Oh Jesse you’re soooooo smart!” Matt mocked as Jesse walked into the kitchen.
“Huh?”
“Oh…uh…Matt was just joking around,” Emma stammered, jabbing Matt in the ribs, “Right Matt?!”
“OOOF!” he coughed in reply, “Uh…yea…yea.”
“Oh……ok,” Jesse said smiling mysteriously as he caught the less than obvious wink from Matt.
“So can your friend take us?” asked Greg changing the subject.
“Yeah, she’ll be here in about 10 minutes.”
“Well you guys have all your stuff with you right?” Lindsay asked.
“Yeah we didn’t bring much anyways,” answered Frankie.
“Uh Chris? I think you left something in the other room though, lets go get it,” Niki added.
“Wha…?” Chris asked cluelessly, “Oh, ooo, yea I left that…um…that thing I hafta get,” he stammered through his hoarse
voice.
“It ok if we go into the den Linds?” Niki asked.
A look of worry briefly crossed Lindsay’s face before she responded, “Sure, sure, go ahead, no prob.”

Sitting next to Lindsay on the love seat, Chris gave Niki a questioning look. She sighed, “I just don’t feel right about this whole thing.” Chris put his arm over her shoulder and willed her to continue. Niki sighed again and shrugged off his hand, “Lindsay’s my best friend and I don’t want to hurt her,” she continued standing up, “I’m sorry Chris, I really, really like you, but we can’t be together.”
“I…” for once he was glad his voice had failed him.
Niki cut him off anyway, “It’s over Chris.”

“I wonder what they’re doing in there,” Lindsay thought biting her lip.
“Yo Lindsay, do you have a bathroom in this house?” called Greg.
“Yah, down the hall, second door on your left.” She replied absentmindedly.
“K, thanks.” He left the room.
“Jessica should be here by now,” Jesse murmured.
::BEEP!::BEEP!::
“That’ll be Jess, let’s go guys,” Jesse called standing up.
“Wait where’s Greg?” asked Ellen.
“Still in the bathroom I guess.”
“I’ll go get him!” Ellen said jumping up.
“Ok, but hurry up!” Erin called after her.

“Greg? Greg!” Ellen cried heading towards the bathroom.
“So Jennifer Goodbye!!!” she heard Greg singing.
She smiled reaching for the doorknob, “Greg we gotta go, Jessica’s he……” she stopped as she opened the door wider.
