Taking Me Over

Chapter 2: Plans

Lindsay spotted Jesse looking at the water from the top deck. “How could I miss him,” she thought to herself, “He’s wearing a bright orange shirt! Still, I can almost see what Emma sees in him. Almost. But Jesse and I have been friends for too long. It’s a little bit weird to think of him like that.” Just then Jesse looked up. “Hey!” she called to him.

“Hey,” he answered.

“What are you doing up here all by yourself?” Lindsay questioned.

“I just had to get away, sometimes I don’t feel like I belong with them.”

“You’re two years younger, not ten years. Of course you belong with them, you’re a group and you get along great…usually. Besides what would they do without you?” He laughed.

“Thanks for the compliments, but you don’t want me to get all conceited do you?”

“No. Listen, I been meaning to talk to you. I don’t know if you noticed, but Emma kind of has a crush on you.”

“Really? No way!” he mocked surprise.

“Yes. But seriously, she’s really nice, and smart, and fu… well she’s your age. I’m not saying you should sweep her off her feet suddenly or anything, but I promised her that I’d mention it.”

“Ok, I’ll…think about it,” Jesse lied.

“Good, she really likes you.”

“And I really like you,” thought Jesse, but he didn’t say anything.

“Hey Chris,” said Niki.

“Hey there.”

“So where are we exactly?”

“I have NO idea,” he laughed, but I know we have a half an hour left before we have to get back.”

“Then lets make the most of it!”

“What did you have in mind?” Chris asked.

“Come on!” Niki said grabbing his hand.

“I sure hope that Lindsay is only talking to Jesse about my crush,” thought Emma after she spotted them chatting together, “Would my own sister ‘steal’ the guy that she knows I have a huge crush on?”

“Why so glum chum?” said a voice.

“Oh hi Matt,” Emma answered sadly, “I just saw Lindsay and Jesse talking.”

“That makes you mad because………?”

“Maaaaaat! You know I have a huge crush on Jesse!” Emma said frustratedly.

“But they were just talking, not reciting their wedding vows. They’ve been friends for too long.”

“You don’t understand,” Emma sighed.

“I could try,” said Matt.

“I knew it was a bad idea to come out here,” thought Erin, feeling sick to her stomach, “I should’ve known from the way Chris and Niki asked me. Oh the view is beautiful, blah, blah, blah. They know I get seasick. I’ve had enough I’m going back inside,” Erin walked toward the door and pulled the handle. It wouldn’t open. “Chris, Niki open this door!” screamed Erin.”

“Chris did you lock the door behind you?” scolded Niki.

“Who me?” Chris asked putting on an innocent face.

“Don’t you play innocent with me mister, go open the door for your sister now!”

“Ok, ok I’m going,” said Chris walking towards the door as slow as possible.

“Christopher Ryan Trousdale, open that door now!” Niki insisted trying her best to hide her giggles.

“Ok I’m going I promise,” said Chris walking to the door and opening it for his sister.

“I cannot believe I let you talk me into this dumb boat ride. You’re so lucky this is almost over, otherwise I might have to throw you over board!” Erin yelled, throwing disgusted looks at her brother after rushing inside.

“Oh Greg you’re so funny!” laughed Ellen.

“It wasn’t that funny,” muttered Erin, still feeling a little sea sick.

“Thanks,” said Greg, “I’ll be right back guys, I’m just going to see what the other guys are up to.”

“I’ll come with you!” offered Ellen.

“Oh please,” whispered Erin under her breath.

“Ok, come on”

“Don’t worry about me I’ll just stay here,” said Erin after spotting her brother outside. “Ok, see ya,” said Ellen, obviously please to be alone with Greg.

“Hey Frankie, you want to come with us?” asked Greg.

“No thanks guys I’ll just stay here with Erin,” sighed Frankie.

“Hey I’m now that bad company am I?” asked Erin.

“No, no, sorry I didn’t’ mean it like that.”

“Ok have fun,” Ellen said heading for the door and pulling Greg behind her.

“What’s up with Frankie?” asked Niki after her and Chris were back inside the boat after ‘torturing’ Erin, “He’s been sitting there for almost an hour!”

“I think he misses his girlfriend, we just got back from a tour recently and then we had to practice for the next concert…so he hasn’t really seen her in a while,” Chris replied.

“But she lives in NY right?”

“Yeah…Uh-oh you have that mysterious look in your eyes…what are you thinking…?” Chris asked.

“I just got a brilliant idea!”
