“Maureen…hey!” Greg said with fake enthusiasm.
“Don’t act so thrilled to see me!” Maureen joked.
“Sorry you just surprised me that’s all,” Greg smiled as Maureen revealed her perfectly straight teeth, but stopped as he caught Ellen’s frosty expression out of the corner of his eye, “What are you doing here…?” he asked.
“Well I gave this guy my number, but he decided not to call me so I’m here to drown my sorrows,” joked Maureen.
“Oh that’s too bad…” Greg trailed off, trying to hide from Ellen that he was the guy who she was talking about.
Maureen coughed, slightly uncomfortable, “So you’re here to see a chick flick with all the guys?”
“Yeah our girlfr…owww!” Matt started, but stopped when Chris elbowed him in the ribs.
Hard.
“Uh…Chris’s sister made us come!” Jesse put in awkwardly.
“WHAT?!” They all turned to him, Erin screaming the loudest.
“Ooook whatever,” Maureen looked confused but seemed to brush it aside.
An average heighted girl with shoulder length blonde hair and green eyes walked up behind Maureen with a popcorn in one hand and a soda in the other. She was followed shortly by a…well a short brunette with…very short brown hair and red highlights carrying a box of Snow Caps and another soda.
“So are you gonna introduce me to your two friends?” asked Greg changing the subject.
“Yeah this is Kate,” Maureen stated pointing to the blonde, “And this is Beth,” she finished pointing to the other girl who was winking at Chris in a very obvious way.
“Hey Beth,” Greg said.
“Hey.”
“Hey Kate.”
Kate was standing with her mouth hanging open staring at Greg with a dopey grin on her face. She tilted her head slightly with a dazed smile.
“Does he look better that way Kate?” Maureen asked, waving her hand in front of Kate’s face and trying to bring her out of her embarrassing state.
“Huh? Oh h-hey Greg.” She finally stuttered out, trying to be flirtatious.
Greg laughed slightly, “Yeah I think you got a little bit of droll on your chin,” he joked as Kate blushed.
“So are you gonna introduce me to your friend…er…friends?” asked Maureen eyeing Ellen enviously.
“Oh yeah, this is my gi…my friend Ellen,” he said pointing at Ellen who was now glaring at him.
He gulped then continued to introduce all of the other guys and girls with him, “That’s Erin, Chris’s sister. Then there’s Niki and Frankie, Chris and Jessica, Matt and Emma, and Jesse and Lindsay.”
“Hey,” everyone said.
The lights started to dim, a sign that the movie was about to start, so Maureen, Kate, and Beth slid into the seats to the left of the other guys and girls. After Greg and Ellen, it was Maureen, Kate, and then Beth. Then there was...the wall.

“I wish I brought headphones!” whispered Matt to whoever was listening.
“SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh!” one of the obnoxious Mandy Moore/Shane West fans whispered loudly.
“Sorry, sorry! Geez!” he muttered.
“I just need a few moments alone with her,” whispered the movie father with a dramatic tone.
“A few moments to do what?” snickered Jesse.
Ellen snorted loudly as Jesse whispered something else in her ear. Greg rolled his eyes giving her a small kiss and fighting the urge to stick out his tongue at Jesse like he used to do in 1st grade to look "menacing." Jesse just rolled his eyes back.
“SHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” whispered the annoying fan again.
“Would you shut up, you’re making it worse!” Matt retorted louder, turning around and giving the girl a mean look.
“OMG are you Matt Ballinger?!” asked the girl sitting next to the obnoxious teenager, squinting in the dark movie theater.
Matt sighed, “Yeah.”
“Aren’t you in that gay girl band, Dream Street?” asked the obnoxious girl.
“Shut up Kelly!” the Dream Street fan responded hitting her, “I’m sorry about my friend, I’m still trying to get her to like the band. But she’s not really a 'pop' kinda girl.”
“No I just don’t like gay boy bands that sound like girls!”
“Kelly!!!”
“SHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh!” said another Mandy fan from across the row.
“Why don’t you shut up it’s just a fricken movie, you can come and see it again!” Kelly shouted.
Matt fought the urge to laugh at the girls hypocriticalness.
“I know you’re trying to watch the movie but-”
“Actually I’m trying not to watch the movie, but…what?” Matt laughed.
“Could I get your autograph?” the fan asked shyly.
“Sure!” Matt replied tapping Emma and asking her for a piece of paper and a pen.
“Hmmmm…” Emma responded half paying attention and pulling a paper and a pen out of her bag.
“Here ya go,” Matt smiled handing the fan the autograph.
“Thanks a bunch, enjoy the movie!” she responded.
“Yeah…riiiiiiiight.” He laughed turning back around in his seat and concentrating on counting the ceiling tiles to preoccupy himself.

“Jesse would you shut it!” Greg whispered loudly.
Jesse snorted with laughter again causing Ellen to laugh even harder at the sound of him laughing.
“Ellen why the he** are you laughing, she’s gonna die!” Emma practically yelled.
“I…tee…can’t help…hahaha…it…Jesse’s making me laugh!” she responded through bursts of giggles.
All around them the girls were practically crying except for Matt, who was half asleep, Maureen, Kate, and Beth who were whispering something, and Jesse and Ellen who were hysterically laughing. Suddenly Jesse couldn’t resist and he reached across and tickled Ellen behind her neck; her “weak spot.”
This only caused her to start laughing harder and she almost fell off of Greg’s lap.
An usher walked down the aisle toward their seats and leaned into the row, “I’m sorry miss, but I’m going to have to ask you to leave if you cannot control your laughter, you're disturbing the other patrons.”
The politeness of the usher over something so trivial as this caused Ellen to almost howl with laughter as she and Jesse got up and walked out of the theater, accompanied by the sounds of teenagers behind them screaming, “Hey down in front!!!”
By the time they had made it out of the theater, they were practically crying with laughter. They were getting strange looks from the other moviegoers, so they stepped outside and headed for one of the benches while doubling over with laughter. Jesse sat down on the bench, but before Ellen could sit down next to him another girl sat down. Ellen continued laughing a little awkwardly now.
“Why don’t you just sit on my lap?” Jesse offered with a flirtatious smile.
Ellen raised one eyebrow then smiled, “Sure sweetz.”
“Now what do you want for Christmas little girl?” Jesse asked with a deep voice.
“I want a pink pony, and a Barbie Dream House, and lots and lots of candy!” Ellen laughed, making her voice sound like a 5 year old's.
The girl next to them looked at them like they each had three heads then got up and went inside.
Jesse and Ellen burst into laughter and Ellen put her head on his shoulder, “Who do you think that girl is who said she knew Greg?”
“I dunno probly some fan he gave his number to…” Jesse answered not realizing that he had just confirmed Ellen’s suspicions.
Ellen sighed as tears dripped down her face, not bothering to wipe them away, "I guess she's not just 'some fan' then..."
Jesse felt her shuddering and he realized what he’d said, “Oh Ellen…I’m sorry…I’m sure…it’s just…” He shut up and wrapped his arms around her, ignoring the tears trickling onto his shirt.
