When viewing online you may only see a partial view of the music at this point. If so, you can enlarge the music to fit the window or screen.

To enlarge

A blue dashed line will appear and extend from left to right as ht file loads.Ê If it does not, viewer can not find your file.Ê This will happen if you are trying to view a finale file that resides on your computer.Ê If this is the case click on the file icon in the Viewer menu bar and Viewer will help you locate the file.

Finale Viewer Find File

When Finale Viewer has finished loading your file it should look like this:

Original Document

Play the file by clicking on the green triangle.Ê You will also find measure selector, volume controls, tempo controls .Ê Depending on the document set up, you may also be able to print, transpose or download the file to your computer.Ê For further information about the finale viewer menu bar, click on the Ò?Ó and it will display instructions in your browser.

TRANSPOSING A FILE IN FINALE VIEWER Ê

When a file is opened in Finale Viewer, it displays the music as it was written.Ê You will see the music for a particular instrument in the original key.Ê If you play a different instrument, Finale Viewer can adapt the file so that you can play it on your instrument. To do this, click on the key signature icon. You can also print this new arrangement.

To transpose

This will open the ÒChange KeyÒÊ window with which you can use to adapt the file playback:

Change key panel 1

Here is the playback as adjusted for Bb clarinet.ÊÊÊ To keep the playback and notation in a range that would be easy for a young student, I have set the octave to ÒDown an OctaveÓ.

Change Key For Clarinet

NOTE: If the part that you are viewing in Finale ViewerÊ is a part of one of the selections that we play in class leave it in the published key.

Here is the flute part as transposed for Bb clarinet.
