Coalition Band

The group's last formation, Freebird-Harvest pioneers - Jacinto Vidal & Boy Tatz with Edward Cabreros playing folk, blues & classic/modern rock. Calling themselves as the "Coalition Band", the group added 3 new members (including Edward's son) to it's rooster. The band played at the "the Village" Courtyard from Dec 2002 unitl Jul 2003 but had disbanded by Aug 2003. Every now & then, Jacinto Vidal & Boy Tatz sometimes jams around doing accoustic rock & blues under Endangered Species. PG-18 ....... Cebu's early wizards of rock-rap music. The group is composed of Benji Cometa-vocals, Dan Kujat-vocals & djimbe, Miki Vano-Guitar, Johnus Verdida-bass, William Menchavez-drums & LLoyd Adlawan-turntables. The band came out with their latest record "Now Showing". The group used to play at Ronnies Tatoo Bar, Cebu City, till it closed down last June 2003. Click in here for band info - PG-18 Site




Who's Next

This six member band plays SKA (reggae music crossed with power pop & is very popular in the UK). Composed of Dindo Contento, John Dinopol, Fern Villaflor, Chelo Apa-ap, Barbs Pudotan & Eric. The band has been a mainstay at the Annual Bob Marley Festival in Cebu and has gigs all over the Visayas and Mindanao. Last Dance

One of many showbands in Cebu, Last Dance entertains it's audience with alternative pop and lounge music. Shown on picture are Mimi and Joey Seno, both vocalist & front for the band. Performing and hopping between various music joints in Cebu City, this group has listed various inmfluences that shape their music. More info to post soon...



Urban Dub

A crowd fav, the band had issued 2 records todate and is
one of the fastest rising group in the local scene today.
Already their songs have enjoyed massive airplay and fans have
already learned to sing along with their catchy numbers.

Persona-Non-Grata

Modern rock band Persona Non Grata, consist of Roger/Vocal, Jaan & Popoy/guitars, Mache/Drums & Garret/bass. The band had released an EP that included their "Find A Way" and their version of Rolling Stone's "Paint it Black". These two songs has warmly been received on Cebu's local rock radio. Suburbia

RnB/Pop outfit, Suburbia is trying to wrap up its forthcoming album at the Starmaker Studio. Their first CD should be out soon. The group had performed at the Jukebox, Sinners & Saints and the Village Courtyard. The group was managed by Idle Carillo and currently is in hiatus with various members playing in other bands.



Energy Band

One of Singapore's reputable rock band which is fronted by George Verano. A pure blooded Cebuano, GV has been doing lead vocals on various Cebu and Manila based bands since the 80's. Bands like --- Mixed Emotions, Imagination, Brawn Awt and Hocus Pocus. The Energy Band rocks out hard (Led Zeps, Red Hot Chilli Peps) and slow tunes nightly at Singapore's club scene. Shiva Copal




Meet this New York base band with three of it's members having roots from Cebu. Hard rock at the edge of punk with a hard core attitude. The band's identifying punchy guitar along with it's razor sharp drums rhines perfectly with it's front female vocalist, Reilly Hope. Other members are; Christian Marquez, David Canton, Glen Gabisan and William Gage. A 5 song EP (Guide for Souls) has been released. Check out the group's music at MP3.com


SILHOUETTE BAND (formerly Klassik Band)!

Greater Toronto/Brampton's band, who's members mostly hailed from Cebu originally. This group plays classic & contemporary songs from rock to pop music. Composed of brothers; Rey & Noel Mapeso, Alex & Dale Tecson and vocalist; Andrew Mission and Vonnie. Rey Mapeso (shown above at center) used to play with the Nightshift Band and also was alternating with the Firelights Band in 1986-87. Both bands were regulars at the Cebu Plaza Hotel at Nivel Hills.

Concert for Tibet AwarenessFriends for Tibet - Cebu
Where: Mambaling Mini Park, South Expressway, Cebu City
When: August 9, 2008 - 7:00 PM - Saturday
Who: Various Local Bands
This concert is to promote human rights issue in Tibet and to raise awareness on it's current situation under the Chinese illegal occupation. This long time repression has been on going since the 1950's, this issue will be showcase on this event thru slides and video to be projected in between band sets.
This concert is free-of-charge and is sponsored by the 'Friends for Tibet - Cebu' and 'Tibet Support Group - Pilipinas'. So rock for Tibet!, rock for human rights, come join us on this Summer Olympic opening day. See flyer posted below...

1st Pinoy Classic Rock Gathering @ California, USA on Nov. 28 & 29, 2003
PCR Reunion - Part 1 ... The Nov. 28 Friday event is the official opening scene of our 1st PCR Reunion. Spearheaded by Tony Ruiz, the Friday nite PCR Get Together/Jam Session/Free Concert venue will be held at Tiki Room in Pomona, California. Featuring live music by Pinoy classic rockers and the new wave of Fil-Am rockers such as Eddie Pastrana & Friends (classic/oldies), Wonderfools (classic/oldies), Imperials (classic/oldies), Wishful Signs (rock), Aqua Phonics (surf/instro), Alonzo's Groove (R&B,hip-hop), Schwag (alternative rock), 7th Circle (metal) & CreAsian (metal). Other groups could be added later. Jamming starts at 5pm. Free admission.
PCR Reunion - Part 2 ... The Nov. 29 Saturday nite event is the main highlight of the 1st PCR Reunion, a Benefit Concert-Dance being coordinated by Ben Yanto, will be held at Centennial HS Performing Arts Center in Corona, CA. Proudly presenting live music by Pinoy classic rockers such as the PCR Group Combo, Klasik Band, Wonderfools, Imperials, Junk 5 & 3/4 - Balisawsaw Jam Band, Pure Led, Technikolorz band and Bits 'N Pieces band. Such reminiscing nite promise to be a great show! Door opens at 6pm & $25 admission. Program starts at 6:30pm. Proceeds from this PCR event will be donated to the construction of the Manilatown Center in San Francisco, CA. Let the good times roll!

The 8th annual Bob Marley Fest was held last March 1st, 2003 at Mango Square, Cebu City (the Reggae capital of the Philippines). One of the main atttraction was the Manila based, Tropical Depression headed by my friend, ka-Domeng. Other local reggae bands from the Visayas also performed at the fest. Groups like; Herbs, Jr. Kilat, Who's Next, Burnin' Culture, Kadangyan and Island Joe.

Elias "jojo" Serrano Jr., one of Cebu's top songwriter & arranger had just got his songs recorded. Various local artist gaved life to Mr Serrano's songs, headed mainly by, Jan Michael Banaynal - a 14 year old and a topper of the 21st Cebu Pop Music Fest last January, 2003. Also a nice interpretation of one of Mr Serrano's song was done by "the Cebu Clergy Performing Artists" which was headed by Father Joselito Gutierrez. You should grab a copy of this album to check out for yourselves. Jojo Serrano's latest project was doing all the musical arrangement on the amazing production of "The King and I" which was directed by no other than Allan Jaime Rabaya. [LP]
