“Holy me”
Adam said to Eve as she was climbing the tree
Shaking the fruit off the root of all evil
“Holy you?”
Eve said back
You ought a lay off the smack
You ought to taste what you’re given
Thought we might be forbidden
That’s living
I’ll forgive you baby, even if God won’t
Even if God won’t, I will forgive you girl
I’ll forgive you baby, even if God won’t
Even if God won’t, I will
Now they were standing naked on the edge of old Eden
Adam bleeding from the corner of his eye
The air grew colder and the pond went dry
Eve grabbed a leaf and covered up thigh to thigh
Adam inhaled the shame then he did the same
And the last thing he claimed as he made his mistake he said
I’ll forsake you baby, even if God won’t
Even if God won’t, I will forgive you girl
I’ll forsake you baby, even if God won’t
Even if God won’t, I will
God smelled sin seeping up from the scene of the crime
Planted the seed of guilt in the mind of the dust that was trusted
All alone up above
Though He banned them from Eden He left them with love
I’ll forgive you baby, even if God won’t
Even if God won’t, I will forgive you girl
I’ll forgive you baby, even if God won’t
Even if God won’t, I will
Now the snake slithered out from a foothill of dung
Hissed in defiance and stuck out it’s tongue
Crawled away grinning cursed to the mud
Left man to the sin in the midst of a flood climbed aboard
I’ll forgive you baby, even if God won’t
Even if God won’t, I will forgive you girl
I’ll forgive you baby, even if God won’t
Even if God won’t, I will I will forgive you girl
I'll forgive you baby, even if God won't
Even if God won't, I will
I will
