Change of Season

Of all the things that I've left behind me
You're the one thing that I never meant to throw in the attic.
Of all the changes in the weather, I'm sure
Pouring rain brings it all back again.
She was young, an innocent baby,
She took a fall while taking a bite of some fruit cocktail.

So I went south for the change of season
When I returned she couldn't even give me a valid reason why
Nothing lasts forever
Tell me why you say goodbye.

I must be a pretty lost person
The girl of my dreams is the subject of my nightmares
She must be a pretty smart person
Finding her way to my greatest fear.
It's all clear that I don't need no one

If nothing lasts forever, I'll just grab some nothing and split.
I'll head south for the change of season
When I leave the past to dust
I won't need to give a valid reason why
Nothing lasts forever
Tell me why you say goodbye.
