48th Hour

I left my heart on the mattress,
I'll be back when I'm able.
I hope to reclaim my name from where
It's sitting on the coffee table by the candy jar
I'm at the bar thinking of the sweet
While I'm sipping on a sour.
Feels like I've been gone for years,
This is only the 48th hour.

Last night I heard a voice coming
Strong through the receiver.
Closed my eyes, saw the face
Man, if I could only be there now.
How can I stand so tall
Watching myself fall?
700 miles couldn't curb the power,
Feels like I've been gone for years,
This is only the 48th hour

Half my soul sits on the sofa,
I see dogs dropping smiles at the door.
Every time I leave I wonder
I wonder what it is that I'm going for.
What it is...what it is that I'm going for.

Baby fogive me please, I've always had such
A propensity to choose and what I write
when it starts dark turns bright.
How I wish that I could shake it
but I've got a little problem finding light switches.
You just dim the lamp down as you like it
And the heat from the sun won't cower
In the 61st hour.

Half my soul sits on the sofa,
And the dog's dropping smiles at the door.
Every time I leave I wonder
Wonder what it is that I'm going for.
What it is....what it is that I'm going for

Feels like I've been gone for years
Feels like I've been gone for years
Feels like I've been gone
And this is only the 48th hour.
