I became aware of Children of Bodom sometime ago, just after the release of Follow the Reaper in Europe I beleive, becuase it was still quite sometime before I saw it on shelves in Australia. I immediatly loved the cover art and hoped to God that the music would be somewhere as impressive, though I was mildly disappointed when I found out the music was 10 times better!! (No I wasn't disappointed I was pretty damn happy). So when it came out I eventually went out and bought the CD, by that stage I had all the mp3's anyway, but there something to be said about having the actual CD and supporting your favorite artists. By listening to that for ages, it did become excessivly overplayed and I seeked....more albums!!
The next one I got was Something Wild, The first release, and this was awsome, the keyboards are not so overdone, and I liked it heaps, Though I was mostly impressed by the precision of Hatebreeder my personal favorite. However it's taken a couple of years to draw to that conclusion.....Tokyo Warhearts is very very close though, the most awsome live album in creation! When Children of Bodom is Concerned every song is an artwork of it's own, no shorcuts, quality through and through.
There's someting else everyone must know about me, it is the fact that I dont like this band....I LOVE THIS BAND! It's an undying obession....all other bands stand next to it insignificantly. I am obsessed with Alexi Laiho, I believe it is the medical condition of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and I am going to move to Finland 'eventually'.
A very special thanx to the band for a personally written letter and signed photo they sent all the way downunder! I nearly fainted when it came in the mail..
It's something to cherish in a band when they truly appreciate their fans and are willing to make that special effort. We love you guys!
